Best news I've heard all day (it's been a loooong Tuesday).
Especially considering that I just read my perfectly powerful iPhone 4 is approaching planned obsolescence.
I also just called. Sounds like it's going to ship tomorrow night
But I still have hope for a Friday arrival since I got expedited shipping!
I find it funny that 30+ hours after the conference, not one person is past the preparing for shipment phase. Mines been preparing for 8 hours.
Maybe Tim Cook is just working really long hours, so for him "Ships Today" means "Ships in My Definition of a Day...About 4 Days"
The next time Tim Cook says "... and it ships today" at a conference, I'd appreciate it if the whole crowd said "yeah, riiiiight" in unison.
Dude, mine just left Anchorage with a scheduled delivery date of Thursday before 10:30. It could even show up tomorrow if I get lucky.
Can you post a pic of your tracking page? (Leaving out the tracking number)
And when did you order it? What configuration?
Alright well I called just now to ask about the $100 gift card charge on my bank account (for anyone else seeing a $100 charge on their account corresponding to the back to school gift card, apparently they will deduct $100 from the price of the computer to correct it) and also asked if they had any updated shipping info for me. The guy was very helpful and understanding and said that it will go out tomorrow at the latest and then probably arrive within two business days. So if it goes out tomorrow, I guess my hopes for a Friday delivery are still alive. Come on, Fed Ex!
I take back my last post... Just got my order email, no shipping yet on my 13" air with 8gb ram but supposed to arrive Tuesday or Wednesday..

Ordered the base model 13" as soon as the store went back up after the press conference. Seeing as a screenshot of the tracking wont show you that I ordered a new Air, I'm not gonna bother unless you guys start freaking out and calling me a liar

Not by the looks of it.
If it's anything like other major product releases, they should all start going off at once. The next stage is "prepared for shipment". Obviously it also depends which timezone you are in, eg it's midday my time here now and 2 hours earlier in Shenzen where they'll likely be coming from, so I'd wager that we'll get start getting "prepared for shipment" later today, and "shipped" overnight.
So I was stupid and ordered the thunderbolt cable as part of a customization to the machine and not seperately so they think its customized and they're going to put the cable inside the actual air box which is why its taking so long.
FWIW - I just placed an expedited order for a 2012 11'' Ultimate (2.0/8/256) 10 minutes ago. Decided to sell my 2011 base MBA and just go balls to the wall with the 2012. The benchmark delta between the two models was too much to resist.
Anyhow...

I called the local store looking for the base 13" with upgraded RAM and, as I expected, since it was a custom order they didn't have it in stock and honestly had no clue as to whether they'd come in pre-configured like that or not. So, I ordered it online and should ship in 1-3 days and arrive between June 21-25. I'm in the same boat as well in that my order was placed earlier today but it still in the processing phase.

Good idea. Obviously timezone can have an effect on when you might expect delivery.
