I went on a trip and accidentally left my white 13" 2.0 Macbook on the roof of my car. It didn't fall off until I was going 45mph. The battery no longer charges and the hard drive had to be replaced. The screen is damaged with a white streak in the lower left corner.
Anyway... I wasn't planning on buying a new Macbook, but I bought a new 2.0 Brickbook. I can say that the biggest improvement I can see other than the display is the comfort when using it. On the white Macbook, the edge below the keyboard used to irritate my arms. The new Macbook is really comfortable and I can use it for hours. Oh yeah... I haven't had any heat issues either.

Haha oh man that sucks about your White MacBook. Your so lucky you could afford to get a new MacBook! Congrats.!

ipod student promo for new macbook?

daneoni- where did you get a student promo from....as far as I know all the "back to school" rebates have expired.

I posed this Question here. My hard drive is spinning a lot, like it is constantly trying to wake up, when it is sleeping. Anyone else have this happen?

That's not normal. The hard drive is not audible on the MacBook, and that includes the "clicking" noise you would ordinarily hear on other lappys while the disk is being accessed. The only thing I hear during regular use is the almost inaudible whirring of the fan.

Now, what have you learned?

The thing is, I don't need a display, don't want a lug a display with to a friend's house, kind of defeats the purpose of the air. I have a feeling the performance won't be too bad with the new CPU running at 1.86 and it has more cache than the Macbook's 2.4GHz and they both have the same graphics chipset...

Thing is, in order for the air to get performance wise close to the macbook you'd need to drop almost 1000$ I don't think it's really worth it at this time.

new macbook reminds me of an audi

i know comparisons have been made to bmw, but i really think this laptop is like an audi a8. what do you guys think?

I just got mine, I thought it was flawless but I just realized that there is a dead pixel.

Sigh. Don't know what to do now.

Today I opened the batery cover on my new macbook and after closing it it seems to be loose..will I be able to get a new machine at the apple store?

I've heard about so many people with the loose battery problems.

Both sam223 and Dybbuk need to go to an Apple Store and try exchanging their MacBooks.

Mine was given to me as a courtesy replacement for a 14 month old white MacBook with no AppleCare. Not sure I want to push my luck haha

Mine was replaced because the original macbook I bought had the wrong machine inside the retail box!!!!

I'm no rich guy. I'm just a grad student that needs more than Windows to get work done. I could have gone cheaper, but after putting hands on the new brickbook I think that I made a good decision.

Now, what have you learned?

I learned not to be a dummy and leave my Macbook on top of the car.

Yeah it is strage. well I had heard it when waking up once. But it was constant last night. I'll repost tonight when i get home and see if it acting normal and quiet again.

Unfortunately, my Apple rep tells me that the hard drives will chirp and some people might hear it. You really can't make a dead silent laptop. There are things spinning and motors running inside. However, depending on how sensitive your hearing is, you might or might not hear it.
Now i have to agree that if you have a noise that is out of the ordinary DEFINITELY get it taken care of and don't overlook it.
