No.

I did mean the screen hinge. It's off centered so when i close the lid, the whole top is off to the right just a tiny bit. Definitely not enough to bother me, but i'm just picky like that and noticed it.

Oh ok, so you have a misaligned case then? That sucks. My old white Macbook had that.
I cannot bloody wait to get my Mac!
mine's like that too! VERY small bit off to the right. Really, you'd only notice if you ran your finger along the side with the screen closed. I'm picky like you too...and don't feel like dealing with the hassle of driving to the store and probably being told I can't return it, haha. Nothing else wrong with the 'book though. I love this little machine
It already smokes my soon to be sold 2.2 santa rosa mbp.
So I am officially MacBookless now (I'm also exhausted and the Apple Store employees hate me).
I went to the apple Store last night to exchange my MacBook with 1 dead pixel. Here's a play-by-play of what happened:
Exchange 1: 2 dead pixels, and a cluster of 7-10 stuck pixels. They offered me another exchange.
Exchange 2: This one had a chip in the palmrest, and the screen was crooked. When the computer was closed, the screen hung out over the bottom case at an angle, and it was also crooked when open. They offered a "final" exchange. They handed me the box and basically told me to get out of the store.
Exchange 3: I checked this one out in my car before I drove home (I don't live near the store). It had a ton of dust behind the screen. Even my friend who was with me noticed all the dust before I said anything. It wasn't small pieces either, there were some big chunks of lint or something in there. Needless to say, I went back into the store. The employees couldn't argue with this. They may have just thought I was crazy before, but they couldn't deny anything this time. They offered me another "final" exchange. It looked fine to me, so I took it and left.
Exchange 4: Once I got this one home, I noticed the display was awful. It had the same display as my first unit (9c89), but it didn't look anywhere near as good. It was extremely washed out and had a nasty yellow tint. I decided this was enough. I called Apple and they told me I had to return it to the store I bought it from if I wanted a refund, so I drove all the way back to the Apple Store today and got my money back.
In the end, I tried out FIVE MacBooks, and all of them had problems (the least serious of which being a single dead pixel). I'm just going to wait a while, and then I think I'll order a MBP from amazon. Their lack of sales tax is a better deal than Apple's student discount anyway.
I thought all the hullabaloo about the new MacBook's display was just bs, but it's true. I'm sure there are some good displays out there, and if you manage to get one, it can be a great computer, but I'm definitely not comfortable with the crap shoot that it appears to be right now. I'm guessing that Apple is using components of lesser quality to offset the higher cost of manufacturing the new MacBooks.
I will say that I'm very impressed the Apple Store let me go through this many exchanges, but they weren't particularly polite about it.

You know...you could have probably run the screen calibration wizard and cleared up that yellow/washed outness...I know I did....
But I really must go to bed now, even though you tell me I have five hours and twenty minutes battery life left. (You little beauty!)

OK, I have heard it all now. Five hours and twenty minutes? I simply cannot believe that, sorry.![]()

The blacks are absolute trash. Plain and simple, black looks like a really deep purple/blue.
But that being said, how often do I sit at my computer and watch a plain black screen? Yeah, never, so I can live with it easily.
My panel is the 9C8C, no idea what that means but I know that its good enough for my uses, if I want better picture I have a really nice Samsung sitting upstairs that I will plug into if the need really arises.
Now to spend even more money and buy a mouse for this thing, trackpads, even a nice big one, aren't that much of a pleasure to use, my wrist sounds like a freaking cement mixture from the weird angles.
Granted, all I was doing was Firefoxing and had only just unplugged the thing but it's true, I tells ya! Unless it was lying to me. Maybe I should watch the real clock instead of just the battery clock. Will try and get a screencap next time I unplug, (which will probably be when I start the whole calibration deal).
OK, I updated the first post:
- Instructions were added on how to tell what type of LCD panel you have.
- I also added instructions on how to upgrade your memory, including pictures of how I took my RAM to 4GB last night.

Nicely done! So are the 320GB HD's in the 2.4 Ghz MB a 7200 RPM HDs?!
