I just got my new MacBook! This is my first Apple laptop. Waited forever due to the Chinese New Year, but oh happy day I have it! I've had it for 2 days now.

The screen is clean, no dead pixels at all.
4gb of ram is FANTASTIC! Runs Photoshop and whatever else I want with no issues at all!

I love the keyboard, so easy to type and see in the dark.

I was kind of hesitant on the glossy screen but totally love it. Everything is so crisp.

The trackpad is perfect.

:(The only issue is the back battery cover on the top side by the latch seems to "click" if it gets pushed or any pressure, going to go to the Apple store to have them look. I want mine to be perfect.:)

You mean you had to wait for the Year of the Ox to buy one? ;) It will definitely work like one then. :D

I just wanted to give an update... 4 months into my MacBook ownership I find myself loving this machine more than any computer i've ever had. Its performance is solid, I've found myself spending so much money on it and I've been spending LOADS of time in my local Apple Store chatting it up with the employees... So to say the least, my Apple love affair is still in blossom :) lol
Hope you guys are still enjoying yours as much as I am...

After 3 months of taking care of my Macbook like a new born baby... my worst fears came to life... A major scratch!!!! A box cutter fell on my macbook (lid was closed). I've ordered a speck hard cover straight away.... should have done it weeks ago when I was first thinking of getting one :(

I feel your pain... I have one on the bottom, and even though I don't see it all the time, it still bugs me lol :)
But i'm definitely sorry to hear about your scratch. At least it didn't do more damage!!

It is only a matter of time before the bottom of my MB gets scratched, the bottom of my old whitebook was like a skating rink !!!

I'm so sorry about your MB. I've been yacking on several other threads about the Speck and the InCase Hardshell covers. I was so afraid of the first scratch that I got a Speck Satin case. My Macbook actually started running a bit hotter so I switched last week to the InCase Hardshell. They finally came out with one for the Aluminum MB. It's wonderful. I'm running cooler, the InCase is 12 ounces (Speck was 14.4 ounces). When I took the Red Speck off my MB I had a few red scuff marks on my MB. They came right out, but it freaked me out a bit. I'm going to keep a close eye on the InCase and make sure it doesn't cause any damage. It's more malleable where the Speck is very brittle. We'll see.

Oh the joy of spending LOADS of money on your MacBook :) I'm guilty as well...

I mean really... 2 $50 hardshell cases in 60 days! It's a disease, I can't control it. But I had to find the right case. I know you understand.

Haha, the MB Alu thread is alive and well! :)

Sorry to hear about your MacBook, alvse. Just keep those boxcutters away from your 'puter from now on.

My MacBook is doing really well, except of course for those lame batteries, but otherwise I love it! :p

BTW, I does pay to defrag the hard disk and optimize space. I wasn't able to do it before because I had to wait for Macworld Expo before I could get the new TechTool Pro 5, which can handle the new MacBooks. Works like a charm and it's definitely more lively afterwards.

Tell us about TechTool Pro 5 and why the new MacBooks need it... inquiring minds want to know.

Well, despite the fact that a lot of folks claim that fragmented space does not have an effect on the speed of a Mac, it's quite obvious to me that it does. So, while TechTool Pro is expensive, it's also a great recovery tool, having saved me in Amsterdam this past September.

It also does a heck of a lot more* than Apple's disk utilities:

I just ordered my Alum MacBook (2.0 GHz, 2GB RAM, 160 GB - refurb). Waiting for it to arrive as soon as possible! I wish I lived closer to Cali so it would come sooner.

I got the little guy to play with while I am away from my alum iMac. I figured it would be a great combo.

guys, can you help me with my problem: my external screen, attached to the Unibody MB, flickers sometimes. Not constantly though, its more like the whole screen does a super quick off/on every couple of minutes. i have already installed all the software update.

tried searching the forums but did not find any.

thank you.

I walked out to the fed ex truck to get it and wanted to dance back to my door, does that count? I still can't get over how great this thing is especially compared to my old 12 inch PowerBook. After using it for 2 hours and using my PowerBook to get some music off the poor old trackpad felt cramped!

Anyone know if the 85 watt Macbook Pro power adapter will work with the Macbook? I was wonder if it will charge faster with it than it does with the 60 watt.
