I guess I'm an aluminium MacBook owner now.

As with spending money, I think I'm done with buying computers now; these 2 Macs should keep be going for the next 2 years. Then maybe I'll get a Mac Pro.

WOW.... :D just WOW... :p
Yeah, but... did you read Spock's post... he danced to the truck and back. We know you dance too. In fact, every time you pick up your Alum MacBook you do a little happy dance... even if it's just on the inside. We see you.

And speaking of dancing... did you both see who is going to be on this season's "Dancing with the Stars"... Steve Wozniak.

Back to your comment Spock: Every time I go back to my Black MacBook (my husband's now) I get all fumbly with the trackpad. I'm lost on any other notebook now. Work is a pleasure. Got mine after the Keynote in October and I can't find a thing I would make differently on it. It's turned out to be much better than I had even expected.

I went for two months without a laptop, because I was waiting for the Aluminum Macbook to come out... Let me just say it was WORTH it. This trackpad alone is amazing, but just like MacLadyBug said, there's nothing I would want different on this laptop. I love the size, the screen, they kyboard, and on and on :) I'm crazy about the black bezel around the screen, and for me the White/Black/(even the Air) Macbook screens are just plain boring.
I bought this the first day it was out in the Best Buy stores (3 days after the keynote - the LONGEST 3 days of my life lol, BB employees knew me by name, that's how often I called to check on shipment dates lol) and NOT ONCE since then have I thought... man I wish I hadn't bought this. And if you knew anything about how nit-picky and slightly OCD I am, this says A LOT about the MacBook... :D

I must admit quite often to closing my MB and just running my hands over its silky smooth surface............then my wife starts to get jealous........lol..

Hey guys I have a quick question from all you aluminum owners. I'm looking to get an aluminum Macbook. I can't decide if it's worth it to pay the extra, for 400MHz and an illuminated keyboard. All I'll be using it for is basic stuff, i.e. web, itunes, and such, and I'll do some light gaming, graphic work, and try out some video editing. Either way, I'll upgrade to 4gb of ram, which sort of seems better that the 400MHz. I'll be using it as my primary computer, until we see an iMac refresh, so any input is welcome. Thanks!

Nah, buy the cheap one.

I love the lighted keyboard, I think I'm always typing in the dark, but I never missed that feature on the BlackBook I had previously. Frankly, I don't think there is a "cheap" one. If money is an issue don't worry about the keyboard. But if you get more ram, larger HD the keyboard just comes with... so it depends on the other stuff and how big your wallet is. You will be happy with which ever you decide on. I love and use a large hard drive. Even though we have an iMac, I keep most of my stuff on my Alum. Let us know what you get. Good Luck.

There are LOADS of threads on this, so I don't want to start an argument in this one, but it's a personal preference. I for one LOVE the lit keys and could not live without them now (and yes, I CAN type it's just so much more convenient to have the lights), and the extra HDD space plus 400 mhz are always fun to have!
So obviously my answer would be go for it!! However my advice is to go to a store play with both of them and see what you think.
Good luck!

Helped a friend this afternoon set up her email accounts on her PC. She changed internet providers and was lost and was going to hire someone to do it. (By the way, it took 15 minutes and she was going to hire a tech @ $60) I can't begin to describe how gross it is to look at XP, Outlook and all that stuff again. That interface is so dull. Options here, advanced settings there, tabs of settings every where, click, right click, left click, defrag....Augh!! Love my little AlumMB.

all everyone seems to think about is the extra 400mhz and the illuminated keyboard, but what about the extra hard drive space? no one ever thinks of that lol..i believe the 2.0 is 160GB and the 2.4 has 250GB. Thats 90 more GB of space, pair that with the extra 400mhz and illuminated keyboard and i think its very much worth the extra 300 hundred dollars.

I just recently put in a WD 7200 RPM 320 GB HD. I should have waited a little bit longer because I see they came out with the 500 GB 7200 RPM :( Oh well I am enjoying the extra space.

Alphaod... didn't you demo the Invisible Shield or Body Guardz for your Macbook Pro? I think I remember photos in another thread. So are you putting that on your AlumMacBook? If so, so you have photos yet? Or maybe, I'm thinking of someone else.

First I would like to thank everyone for there posts. I have read each and every post, which helped make my decision to switch over to Mac that much easier. I just picked up a MacBook Aluminum and love every inch of it. Thanks again to all you posters for the very helpful information you guys have provided. it will definitely make you happy!!!:D

I couldn't wait any longer. i just pulled the trigger on a 2.0 MacBook and couldn't be more excited! I also dropped an order for 4GB of Crucial memory for $53.99. Should be up and running by week's end.

Now if they'll just hurry up and update the iMacs. I want to replace my 20" with a top of the line 24" beauty! (or one could dream for a 30" version to be released) (sigh)

Anyone know if the 85 watt Macbook Pro power adapter will work with the Macbook? I was wonder if it will charge faster with it than it does with the 60 watt.

Yes it will work just fine. It will not charge faster, and it will not harm your comptuer/battery. Remember, you can go up, not down on adapters. Example You can use a 85w on any MacBook with magsafe, the MacBook will only pull as much as it needs, however you may have issues using a 60-65w or the 45w (MacBook Air) on the MacBook Pro. Which from what I understand WILL cause slower than normal charge if you are using the MacBook Pro while its plugged in.

A friend of mine has been using an 85w on his MacBook for two years now (They didnt have 60w Adapters in, and they are the same price as 85w). No problems at all.

How did you get it for $53.99?

hmm.. this is all confusing info. But i guess the good news is that the price keeps getting lower it seems every month. So by the time i order mine in a month or so, it should be even lower.

Aboslutely, 100% worth it for me. But, as was stated above, there has already been many arguments on this subject. For me, backlit keys, 400mhz of CPU, and the 250 HDD were worth it.

Wow.
