So for right now I just threw in the disc and did the install over Leopard. I'm not noticing any HUGE differences, but I'm enjoying the overall feel.
SL has been installed for about 30 minutes now and it's doing great.

You're done??? What's the difference in the space left over on your drive? Big difference? How is the machine running? How fast is it booting up? etc., etc., etc. You know what we want to know... come on give us all the scoop.

Machine is running very smooth. Everything seems snappy, responsive and tied together. It does seem like i have more room on my HDD, but I can't remember for sure.
The BIGGEST inconvenience so far, and it does seem to be a one time occurence (as in just for me not others), is that my MB WILL NOT got to sleep. It wakes right back up... AppleCare hasnt been able to figure it out yet. We've done all kinds of resets and crap, but no luck so far... So i'm still waiting to hear on that issue. I've never had that problem with Leopard.
But other than this, the update went smooth, and SL runs pretty nice. Not a MAJOR difference, but i'm thinking the advantages will become clearer in the future.

I have a 2.4ghz model and i've been hearing this faint static/crackling noise coming from the right side, can't tell if it's the superdrive or right speaker, but it always happens when ichat is open. Anyone have experience with this?

Wow, Snow Leopard is damn fast. Apple wasn't lying when then said it was a finely-tuned version of Leopard!

I just loaded SL and everything went w/o any problems. ;)

It appears to have replaced the previous 32 bit version of Leopard w/the 32 bit version of Snow Leopard.

Does anyone know if the 64 bit version is available on the same disk? If so, how do I load it?

Thx

.

I ordered a Family Pack from Amazon.com. Will be delivered on Monday. I plan to spend all Tuesday reformatting and reinstalling all my apps and docs. :D

Went to the local Best Buy they didn't have it, said they misplaced the shipment somewhere so I went to the Best Buy in Spartanburg grabbed the last one loaded it up without any issues. I really enjoy it, the new expose and stacks features are cool, it is much faster, boot camp 3.0 seems to have really improved the trackpad responsiveness in windows so right clicks are easier, apps are launching FAST. Itunes launched really quick.

I ordered a refurb UMB from apple and it should be here on Monday.. Pretty stoked.. I need an upgrade from this early '07 Macbook.

I just upgraded my black macbook with a unibody macbook, installed snow leopard and it went flawlessly. It does appear to boot faster, run certain apps faster. I am liking it definitely worth more than $29.00.

So I bought my refurb'ed 2.4GhzUMB on Friday and it finally got here today. I checked the the hardware on it after installing Snow Leopard and noticed that it came equipped with 4GB of RAM!

Damn it feels good to be a gangster...:apple:

You didn't know? Great surprise then. How do you like SL?

The first thing I did was install SL. I was actually surprised to see the refurbs ship with it so soon... The install went great and everything seems to be in working order so far! :D

attention Aluminum Macbook owners!: We are getting very close to the one year mark of our machines release. Have you gotten /are you getting AppleCare? I haven't decided yet. I don't know if I want to purchase it or sell before my year is up. Either way I am not going to own a machine that doesn't have AppleCare. Anyone have any recommendations for getting cheap AppleCare? (dont just say "eBay", give me some links! :))

We were just talking about that... I'm going to get it. It's paid off for me before... big time. So I'm not going to miss the opportunity. Hate to shell out the bucks for it though.

one big thing i noticed is that my UMB doesnt run as hot. Before SL even with speedfan it would still get really hot, now i cannot even feel it getting warm when its on my lap.

I havent decided yet about applecare or not, got mine in november not long after they were brought out and with snow leopard taking advantage of the GPUs i was thinking of maybe upgrading to a 15inch MBP with the Nvidea 9600 hmm...

Are you sure you want such a behemoth? The 15s are so much bigger than the 13s.

I know yes thats something i have to think about but id love the bump in screen resolution and i need to see what the matte screen options look like in real life before i make the jump.
Id also like to see if apple allows the unibody macbooks to accept 8GB ram as well.

Well, I see that no one has reported anything really bad with SL, so this is the weekend! I'm going to do it! Wish me luck! :p
