Crap, and I thought SL was supposed to bring STABILITY! FAIL Apple.

Are you a student, even in, say, a one-unit are class at local community college? It's $183 (instead of $249) via Apple's online higher-ed store:

I've had no issues at all with SL. I'm enjoying all the tweaks. I just did the standard upgrade method for our MacBooks, but on our iMac I erased the HD and then installed SL. Absolutely no difference whatsoever... it just took longer. So my advice is to do it the quick way.

hey ubercool how goes it with the install? Have you taken the leap yet?
I got mine in november so i have a few weeks left yet but i am still to purchase it. I was going to try ebay but after reading some of the stories on here im undecided. Some of the deals seem way to good to be true. Another point seemed to be the seller wanting to mail you the code without sending you the complete box. If anything goes wrong you are left without the serial number which the box would provide. I believe in a proof of purchase scenario Apple would ask you for this serial number.
That's the question of the day at our house right now...
My husband and I have been debating about the same thing. He wants me to go ahead and get it... but $265 Wow. But our family has been on the receiving end of a gracious Apple Care replacement... More than paid for the cost of the AppleCare.
So, I'm calling them tomorrow and getting it.

My Superdrive on my iMac is failing after 2 years of use and the hard drive is making noises id rather it didn't as well. A new superdrive for it would set me back about £80 and that just for the part not the labour. I could fit it myself but Apple wont sell it to me as a part only. I cant imagine parts for a MacBook being any cheaper. Get it bought

.. and maybe i forgot about it and missed the deadline. just maybe
Eww. You may be all right. I haven't heard anything of widespread failures or defects on our machines, other than the original 9c89 lcds and occasional reports of the plastic hinge cracking. Good luck.
