10 month report

I purchased my MB 3 days after launch, first day that it was out in Best Buy, and I was the first one in my area to get one from Best Buy. I can still remember the Geek Squad guys and the Apple rep asking me to open it up so they can see it :D Goood times...

10 months later I cant find anything wrong with this thing... my MB pretty much stays on 24/7. I take it to work with me and use it at my house for Internet, Movies, etc.
I've had a Moshi Palmguar and Clearguard for about 6 months now, and I honestly havent cleaned the screen or wiped the laptop down in a couple of months.
This has been the BEST laptop at SIMPLY running... I havent had to reinstall Leopard, and the only time I restart it is when an update comes out.
It really JUST WORKS.. :D

EDIT: I'm SOOO getting Snow Leopard when it comes out. I just cant wait to see what this MB can really do with the right OS that will maximize its potential!!!

What about Snow Leopard's printer driver's and such...

I got Leopard for an iMac I had when it came out only to be disappointed that all the HP drivers had not been written and/or released. It took several months to get them so none of my wireless printing functions worked until then. What do we know about Snow Leopard... do you think or know if everyone else will be ready for it when it's released this time?

Well, regarding HP drivers, I know that 2 of their processes/applications are still in PPC code. So, either upgrade to Snow Leopard and not have those applications available OR wait for HP to issue an update. I will probably be waiting 'till 10.6.1 or even 10.6.2 for bug fixes.

i was wondering if theres away to change my 2008 aluminum macbook bottom to a 2009 macbook bottom reasons for would be to get rid of the loose battery latch cover which is starting to happen on mine??

This is why they invented ductape.

From what everybody's been saying it looks like it might even be early.
I doubt that, but at least it'll be on time. I'm thinking this will be a very strong release, because of Windows 7 being almost out. Like it or not, it seems like Microsoft has gotten some good response from their latest commercials, so i'm thinking that Apple is going to take Snow Leopard release very seriously, and make it a strong OS, hopefully with few bugs to fix.
I'm pretty psyched about it!

I am still wondering weather to put "Collectors Edition" in my sig......

Me too. :D

Good point. I'm hoping that at least the laser printer drivers will be included with Snow Leopard, so I can use my ancient HP LaserJet 4050.

Um, I don't think this an acceptable solution for a MacBook CE owner! :p

New UMB owner!

Hello everyone! :)

Just purchased my first ever macbook. MacBook Aluminum,2.4Ghz,250GB drive and 2MB ram. It was going for 1000 usd refurbished from the Apple Store and seemed a better deal than the regular white MB for the same price.

I weighed all the pros and cons, faster cpu, memory, great screen. There's no FW,but I've no Firewire devices anyway.

I use a widget that looks at the cpu temp. I'm running 46 C,but ripping a dvd made it hover around 80 C. Maybe somebody can tell if this is normal and if not, best way to deal with. Don't want to cook it on my first week. :)

Thanks, Geenix

not sure if I have ever posted here.. so oblivious to things on the forum. Still have my MB, just ordered a 320g HD, and another 2 gigs ram, going to put vista on it for some games and really take advantage of it. All that is needed now is a nice LCD and some speakers to go with it.

Still slightly jealous of the MBP's though, oh well.

OMG, while you're at it, build it a small altar! :p

Just kidding, I'm sure you're enjoying it immensely. I will eventually switch to a MBP too, but will wait until Snow Leopard is bundled with the system and prices drop another $100 or so. :D

HA yea :D I get jealos of a lot of the nice setups I see here, piece by piece though i'll eventually have an altar too.

So I've had an unibody MB since early May - around three and a half months now. Man, I had loved how my WhiteBook looked and worked, but this thing has just blown me away. I had been rather leery about getting it after hearing about palmrest erosion (especially considering how sweaty my hands get) and being confused about how the trackpad worked, but I now realize how silly my concerns were. I have had zero issues with my MacBook.

I really, really rack my brain for anything that might have caused me a moment's dissatisfaction or something that I might have thought could be better or different, and I just can't remember anything. It's been one big pleasure trip.

Currently using the moshi keyboard protector, which I am very impressed with. It's so easy to type on! I didn't want to mar the beauty of the MacBook by putting on palm guards, so I just wipe it down every night with iClean.

Really, really impressed. I'm glad I decided to upgrade before starting university. This thing is gonna see me through to my doctorate.

haha... upgrading already huh?!?! :D

Does anyone have an issue with their speakers making a "pop" noise? If yes, have you found any fixes? This issue has been a real problem for me, and scares me half the time, because it is so loud of a pop noise.

EDIT: It happens randomly. Any ideas of what could be causing this? Could it be interference from something else?

No clue... Does the noise make the sound as your listening to music or watching a vid? ...or does it randomly just make the noise out of nowhere?

It used to sound like to sound chip waking up, but now it happens a lot, is really loud, and random. Any ideas? Here is a kinda short description of the issue:

1. When the MacBook's sound is mute, for around 10 minutes, and there is a sound playing (For Example: iTunes Music or an iCal alarm), the speakers will begin to pop. I understand that after a period of inactivity, the speakers will make a "pop" sound to turn the sound chip back on, but I never un-muted the computer in the first place.

2. Recently, I have noticed that the speakers will "pop" randomly, when mute or not, there should be sound playing or not, and whether the speakers have been used a lot or not.

3. It is a LOUD pop!!!!!

^^^^ is what I thought it might be. It has happened to me a couple of times.

But, the scenario that you are describing is something different. Sorry CelticPride, I have never heard of your case

I have heard this a lot, but my issue is different. Probably going to the Apple Store for the 4th time with the same exact issue. Not leaving until something gets done, getting pretty crazy. Thanks for your help though.
