Just wanted to chime in real quick here.
I have a unibody MacBook running Snow Leopard since launch day.
I have one problem. When I'm using my external display with a mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter (monoprice), if I sleep the system and try to wake it up, the system goes back to sleep immediately then wakes up again. Then the menubar is solid and occasionally Finder icons will disappear. It happens if I sleep the system using the external display, or sleep the system using the built-in display then switching to the external display. The only way it works right is if I wake the system by opening the lid and having two displays going. So I generally can't use sleep mode if I want to use my external display. I have to reboot or just shut the system down before connecting it. This all worked fine in Leopard by the way. Its definitely a bug in Snow Leopard related to Apple's piss poor handling of multiple displays. For some reason, Apple won't allow you to disable the built-in display via software, like Windows has been able to do for over 11 years now.
Otherwise, I did a CLEAN install of Snow Leopard and I've had zero problems.
Other than that bug, I can guarantee you that nearly every other problem people experience with Snow Leopard is due to an UPGRADE rather than a CLEAN INSTALL.
OP, you'll be fine going to Snow Leopard as long as you do the SMART thing and do a fresh clean install. Not an upgrade like everyone else. Snow Leopard is sold as a "$29 upgrade", but the disc is a full disc and you can do a clean install of the OS. You just have to go into Disk Utility in the installer and wipe the drive there, then install Snow Leopard.
I would bet good money that if everyone did a clean install of Snow Leopard rather than an upgrade, we wouldn't be seeing 90% of the complaints we are seeing.
Oh yeah, no drop in battery life either. ~5 hours for me still, wifi on, bluetooth off, screen between 25-50% brightness.
