Because tray drives suck. They aren't sexy at all. Apple is all about 'sexy'. Case closed.
Tray drives
Pro:
you can stick a paperclip in the hole to force it to eject, should a program lock it up or the machine die with one of your CD drives inside.
they eject quicker
Con:
Noisy chattering when it thinks it cannot read the CD/DVD.
I almost broke many them because the tray was open and I hit it.
Slot load
Pro:
Quieter
no broken trays
con:
what happens with the disk will not eject?
Cons on both:
tray - circular scratches, especially on desktops where the disk is not locked onto a hub, rather just floating in the drawer.
slot - scratch or scuff marks where the arms grab the CD to suck it in, or push it out.
I saw an 8gb pny usb thumb drive for $28. still more pricey than DVD's, not sure I trust flash media for permanate storage.
someone Mentioned iwork 09? = please make that what MS office 2003 was and then I can ditch everything about MS except for my .NET and SQL-Server I need for work. Even the new CP Notebook 3.0 rocks and I no longer really have a need for MS onenote.
ilife 09 - please bring back the features and timeline that was in imovie 6 HD. I am all about effects. imovie hd6 is what my adobe premier elements 3.0 is.
