MacBook and MacBook Pro Part Numbers and Prices? $899 MacBook?

I don't know if it's fake but things that make the picture fake looking..

1. no click button unless thats new...
2. no power button
3. BLUR! that's one thing you usually see with fakes
4. wtf is the white ghostly stuff around the top left?
5. the MacBook Pro script at the bottom looks very blurry and too bright, looks pasted there

I will put money on it this was taken at an apple retail store with an iphone.

p.s. why do you need a click button? just tap the multi-touch pad, get it?

Might I also add that it's a different model letter/number, it's K while the others are M. It might be extremely low end model entirely on it's own.

They might be keeping the plastic after all for the 899 models perhaps?

the more i look at it the more i agree its probably fake, i dont see a power button or trackpad, also i dont see apple getting ride of matte for some reason.

Well, it fits all the previous design details to a T. Besides, It's hard to fake all that. It's clearly a manufactured MBP. I like it, and it will grow on everyone else, especially when they see it in real life.

Even the whiners will lap it up.

the hole on the side of the macbook and macbook pro case pics is probably a power button (the circle hole) not the wide slot that is covered with tape. the latest blurred photo doesn't show a power button on the top shell. also, the missing trackpad click button is replaced by a full trackpad. you will not have to use click and right click via gestures on the trackpad (feature has been available for years in system prefereces). now it will be standard. no clicking anymore, just "tapping".

Missing button WTF? Thats um... odd. Maybe the touchpad is like that new BB Storm phone where you can push down a little and get a click sensation on the entire pad.

Seems like a waste of money to make one model entirely of plastic while the others are aluminum.

It is hard to take non blurry pics with an iphone, i sometimes have to take a pic four times to get it. It does not have an advanced image stabilizer system it is a 2 meg to top it off.

No, not always... For example, the Archos 7 is only $499. I don't think it's far fetched for a full Mac OS X version of this with say a 1.2GHz Atom with Multitouch.

I work at best buy. best buy policy is such that the student discount on Apples is at the discretion of the General Manager. We haven't always matched Apple's discount, and my store may or may not presently or in the future. Most likely if a Best Buy is near an Apple store, they will do something. but if you are a savvy shopper, you will get the Matching discount at Best Buy and use their 0% interest for 18 months....that trumps any Apple store's offer.

Thanks so much for that information. That is very helpful. I guess I will just call my local Best Buy tomorrow after the keynote to see if they have them (If Steve says they are available now). I will also ask about the discount since there is an apple store about 15 miles away. that 0% for 18 months certainly does sound compelling!

true but it's better than $1999, the fact is apple has users by the balls. Either you get a watered down macbook or you pay the premium for the mbp

Wouldn't it be nice if you could install your DVD of OSX 10.5 on any laptop or desktop or mini-tower that you could find?

No power button.. they took forgot to 'shop one in (like, WTF would you do if that machine crashed... pull the battery out?).

Not to mention it's as ugly as hell. Looks like a cheap acer or something... black keyboard on a silver laptop? Apple have more sense than that.

It's not a fake pic, it's real. It's not the $899 model, that plastic glossy looking toy is the top of the line Maccrook "Pro" . That thing will cost you a min of $3,500 - $4000 with decent specs. It doesn't have a firewire port or Blu-Ray .

I wanted to buy a Mac just because my school uses them, but I think I'll go with a $500 Dell that actually has a firewire ports, dedicated graphics card, etc.

If that computer had the words "Acer" written on it you people would say it's an overpriced piece of junk. But since it says "Maccrook Pro" everyone is happy and willing to give them $4000.

you know i wondered about the iphone camera. have you ever when adding a contact taken the photo from inside the screen where youre adding a contact and noticed the camera acts differently than when inside the camera app itself. it does some sort of stabilizing or multiple shots type of thing to get a clear pic.
