hmmm.

1. Education/presentation - ever use OmniDazzle?
2. Handwriting recognition - CP notebook 3.0 just added some features for that.
3. Wacoms selling like hotcakes - so you know people, especially the artsy folks want it.

much quicker than mousing - just tap/double-tap on the exact location on the screen.
 
I really don't see the use for a "touchbook", to surf the net with a bigger screen than the Iphone?

If it doesn't have a keyboard, working in the go is gonna be a PITA.

A sub-net-book or better yet, a sub- note-book would be better... for me anyhow.
 
we what I think, IGNORE THOSE PRICES, go to sleep wake up and see the prices instead of getting all worried, that's all of rubbish in my opinion, there is only one thing we can all do, Wait and see


Orrrr go and kidnap Steve and make him tell us LOL

So because they say MBL/A and there is no MBl/ B does that mean they have dropped the black? or optional color?
i was really hoping for a black aluminum computer!
 
Education Discount...

The discount is around $100 off. Of course depends on the amount of the product being purchased. So let's say you bought a current Black MacBook for $1499.00 after the discount it is $1399... If you wanted to buy a AirPort Extreme for $179, after the discount it is $159... So basically it is around 10%, yes.

I just use my OSU Student ID card when I go into the local Apple store, and they give me the discount.:)

You, mean, or you get a watered down MBP for $1999. Apple's current $1999 MBP is worth $1200 in the PC market. There's no way they can put an actual $1999 worth of PC-value specs in the already ultra-thin new MBP. I'm expecting at least a $600 Apple premium for a low-end MBP already.

... or we can always open one of those nostradamus books and look under apple for some prophecies.
 
I have a hard time buying those prices with something similar to the current feature set. For all the MBs at $1299 or above there has to be some substantial feature that makes the unit worth that extra $400. Even a combination of a faster processor and more RAM is only worth $200 at the most.

1. Bluray (a slimline BR drive for a laptop is about $300-400)
2. SSD standard (80GB standard intel SSD is $600, so it would need to be something cheaper, hopefully without that damned j-micron chipset)
3. Discrete graphics (Dell upsells discrete graphics on some laptop models, but usually in 15" and above, and for $100-250 above integrated graphics)

Thats it really. RAM is cheap (well, DDR 2 is cheap). HDDs are cheap. I would figure that an LED-LCD wouldn't figure in a $400 price premium, nor would any faster processor (the price difference between the two likely MB processors is around $80). What else is there? 3-yrs applecare included?

The only thing I can think of is a baseline 2.26Ghz/120GB/1GB/SD/Integrated GPU for $899 and having the 2.4Ghz/250GB/2GB/SD/9500GS for $1299.

Honestly I really want the 2.4GHz proc but I dont think its worth it to spend $1500 on a laptop (incl. Applecare of course) when I can get most of the speed at $1099 (base+ more aftermarket RAM + AppleCare).

One last thing, there is also the small but distinct possibility of the $1299 being a baseline model and being able to subtract a few features (BR, SSD, or whatever) from it to lower the price, like Apple does with the Mac Pro).
 
K29 is mostly likely to be a codename.

MB382LL/A is not in the range of the other MacBook part numbers (MB466/467),so it could represent a new notebook type-eg. a MacBook with 13.3" display priced to compete with ASUS,MSI and Acer's netbooks.

A 10.4" MacBook:no,remember the last time Apple had a 10.4" notebook?

I just hope the 899 model is a low cost Macbook preferably without a disc drive so its lighter and still all aluminum! I am not to worried about specs as I just use it for typing and surfing (reading Macrumors). Haha but I hope the others do include FW and have decent specs for still being 1,299!

If you look though, it hasn't even been released yet. Probably just people hating on Acer because it doesn't have the name HP, Dell, or Apple on it. Not that Acer's are great, but it's not like they use a different type of HD, Processor, or Ram than a HP or Dell with the same specs.

I agree. Is there any chance that these are NOT the prices that are going to be shown tomorrow?
