In a complete 360, I'm gonna somewhat agree with you... somewhat.

Complete 180, shurely? Or did you already agree with him...? ;-)

Reminds me of former UK Prime Minister's famous quote: "When your back is against the wall, it's time to turn around and fight!"

Sorry, but are you guys still worried about a user's name, or is it just a traditional display of U.S. "morality"? Can't you just leave that job to the admins and get back on topic?

We never got OT, no matter how much we complained about the name.

As for it being a case of being "U.S. morality", no that's not the case. and there's no need to turn this into a political discussion, you neutral chocolate eating, clock maker. :p

It's the fact that I've seen people temporarily banned for a lot less then a blatantly offensive name. One of those people would be me.

#1. Yes me and my US Morality... *points to the left a little*
#2. I am only one guy.
#3. I said it once, just agreeing with someone.
Can we leave this and get back on topic?
Unfortunately by page 15 of most rumours, the topic drifts way off because it's not tuesday anymore. It's Wednesday... One month and two years away.. :p ..sorry.
EDIT: Oh god it's page 16 and the macbooks aren't out yet..

Gad I've got it bad. I had a dream about the forthcoming MacBook last night  It had a track pad with one button that sensed the left and right sides for two button functionality. Guess you know what I'm hoping for... I need mental help, hehe.

you'll be sorry.... I was gonna do the same thing only get a 14 in. ibook... Their proven right? and its a little bit bigger screen.. but i know I will kick myself when the Macbook does finally arrive... (I'm 3 weeks into my Spring quarter and I hate Mr. Jobs everytime I have to drive home from school just to use my desktop computer) but better to hate him than myself.... you know its gonna be amazing, and probobly faster than the powerbook too...

How do you know that? It might not be all that great, we don't even know if it'll include iSight and ifront, we don't know anything, as far as we know it might end up with a Core solo, and it that case the performance diffencere will be too small to matter, and if you then consider the worst case which is a Core solo with integrated graphics, then it doesn't really have that much going for it, I doubt that they'll be able to beat the battery time on the G4, let alone increase it. Not many centrino laptops is able to get near the battery time of the ibook G4, and at these sizes the number is dimishing.

If the macbook doesn't surfaces until june, you'll be kicking yourself for waiting 4-5 month, time where you could have had a perfectly good ibook for your everyday use. Btw, waiting for new hardware is pointless, there will always be something new in the horizon, and when it is as insecure as to what we'll be getting, as in this case, I'd never hold it against some one to go with the proven thing, and the G4 is proven.

Not entirely sure what's uniquely American about being offended by a blatently racist and misogynist username. But I'm British, what do I know about not being American?

I wasn't going to comment on it as I assumed the mods would hear the complaints already heard, but this comment was bizarre.

As for the topic, I'm still having difficultly believing the MacBooks will be substantially more powerful than the Mac minis unless the pricing is substantially better. If this is true, then Apple's contempt for the mini is worse than I thought. I'm predicting at the very least integrated graphics. Any Radeons et al will be in a machine branded MacBook Pro (ie assuming there's a full line up of MBPs in the same way as there are PowerBooks, with the low end PowerBook being a beefed up iBook)

Well, U.S. is THE place to discuss morality after all, as you may have porn but you can't kiss in public...UK is just, well, UK...besides, I am pretty sure moderators got the call...but thanks for getting back on topic.

Bottomline: NO MBs this week or the other...forget about'em, guys.

im getting sick of this crap. im getting a laptop for graduation in one month and if it's not out by then ill just get an iBook G4.....it'll do what i want. And if another model comes out then ill just sell the iBook and spend some extra money on the Macbook....

does anyone know if Apple plans on putting iSight into the new MacBooks?

I would be willing to bet money that the new MacBooks will indeed have iSights built in - it seems to be the direction Apple is moving. I think the interesting one will be whether or not they include iSights in the ACDs when they are updated.

But MacBooks, yes, most certainly iSights will be built in.

Why can't they release it now!!

I've been waiting months for this intel ibook (macbook) to come out. I've seen some great designs and ideas from the people using photoshop. If it only took around 2 months for the new iMacs and MacBook Pros, then why is this ibook going to take so long to make. I have a feeling that this is going to probably be the largest change of an apple notebook so far. From the features that have been rumored. This is a massive improvement to the current iBook G4. I cant wait, Apple I Want it now!:)

Folks will get their MacBook next week and here's what it will be :

13.3" widescreen
Core Solo or BTO Core Duo for $299 more.
Intel integrated graphics or BTO Radeon X1300 for $149 more
512 MB RAM
Built-in iSight
60 GB 7200RPM HD or BTO 80 GB 7200 RPM HD
Combo Drive DVD-ROM/CDRW or BTO Superdrive DL for $99 more
USB/Firewire 400
Built-in Bluetooth+EDR

MacBook Pro 17" coming also

;)

BTW, for those of you who did not understand, go back to the previous page.

Why thank-you for your very kind comments. I must admit my timing was quite impressive..:D

Next month

AppleInsider is running a story to the effect that the 17" MBP will be launched at NAB but that the MacBook (or whatever) has been pushed back to "next month". No clue on whether this means the start or end of next month though :(

Obviously, they are referring to the fact that some people [including myself] are wondering if the iMac will lose the "i". From a marketing perspective it makes sense, even if the "iMac" is a well known name. The point is that, dropping the "i" is not going to "confuse" anyone, and will completely align the product naming, marketing, and packaging layout scheme.

No way, getting rid of iMac is even dumber than iMacBook. The iMac is a well known brand name, and there's zero reason to change it. A "mac" is a headless apple computer, the iMac is a mac with integrated screen. Not to mention that if they were going to change the name of the iMac, they would have done it when they switched to intel.

iMac it is, it's not going anywhere.

If there is no 13" macbook by the beginning of august, I will pull the trigger on my head... and it doesn´t make me sad. :p

Take a deep breath. They've already started making the things, we're looking at may or june at the latest.

1. An Intel Mac mini that can't play games. (This wasn't even considered the highlight of the show, with Jobs getting it over with at the beginning. But then I don't think Apple has ever "got" the Mac mini, it appears to be the poor illegitimate child of a war between those wanting a set-top-box and those wanting an economy Mac. Even if you're one of the seven people who actually liked the Mac mini redesign, the fact remains this is a machine that Apple is failing to take seriously.)

Looks like you drank the cool aid. The mini most certainly can play games. Sure, it can't play the highest end games at the highest settings, but it's just fine for casual gaming, I've had a blast gaming on it. It's a machine that has great performance at a decent price. I'm happy I could save $500 and use the monitor I already have, is there anything wrong with that?

Why are you so sure? And I sincerely doubt that it will be a 7200rpm hdd.

I can't handle this anymore. I have been checking this site more then once a day for a while now that's so crazy. All i want is the stupid laptop to come out so i can buy it and wait half a year for it to be shipped lol.

I'm looking to switch to a mac notebook soon and battery life is very important to me. Do you think that the new macbooks will have poorer battery life due to the intel processors? If that's the case then I may just buy a g4.

I strongly disagree with you DKZ. A dual core Intel will compute rings around any mobile G4 simply because it is dual core. Multiprocessing makes for a much more rewarding computing experience no matter how slow. G4 is SLOW. And PROVEN SLOW. :p

Multimedia,

You have mentioned several times about an Apple Special Event on Sunday, April 23rd? Do you know this for sure, or are you going by past experience? If you got an invitation, what time on the 23rd is the event supposed to be?

i'm bettin' they put iSights in everything they make AND i'm willing to bet that they will start comming standard as an external thing with the mac mini and the powermac.

i'm also bettin that ipods might start to see them built into them.
