Im sticking a May release. If Apple want to meet school buying season, then it has to be NOW, not June or July.

Im even dreaming of owning a Macbook, had an odd one the other night where it had an iSight between the latches, but then one at the side you could move. God knows why i dreamt of it, but it looked cool lol

*pokes Apple with a stick* C'mon!

ehhh... you might want to lay off the jalapeños before bed.

Ive just been watching some Macworld Expo's on Youtube. The Boston '97 one was entertaining with the Microsoft partnership. I dont think it went down too well.

Could we please make that 800 high? I find the idea of only 720 high to be a bit on the low side esp since the current ones are 1024 x 768 high. I think losing 48 pixels in height is a lot more than gaining 256 pixels in width. Since the 15" MBP is 900 high (last 15" PB was 1440 x 960 high) and the 17" MBP is 1050 high, could we at least agree that the MB should be no shorter than 800 high? Please? :)
I'll second you, bro. 800 high. Just wait and see. ImAlwaysRight :)

why build a webpage for 24 hrs......

...because with iWeb building a webpage is easy

That was a tie breaker question, right? I noticed this earlier, it is interesting that according to this page apple has fewer product lines that boutique manufacturers like alienware. I know that they believe in quantity over quantity but we know that they have at least two more lines (three if you count the x-serve) and I'm sure that a mid-range headless unit could be squeezed in there somewhere.

In other news (i think on Tom's hardware) - further decline in global market for PDAs. Looks very unlikely that we'll ever see one of these from apple, although i'd love to be proved wrong.

What's happening with the old ibooks??

Hi,

I'm pretty new to the Apple world and was wondering if anybody can tell me what's happening to the current ibooks upon the release of the new intel ibooks / macbooks. Are they immediately removed from the Apple Online store or is it possible to buy an old one shortly after the release of the new macbooks?

I'd like to buy the ibook g4 12" as cheap as possible and hope they get at least slightly cheaper just before the macbooks arrive. However I would be extremly disappointed if they are no longer available by the time the new ones are be sold.

Thanks in advance for your replies :)

I don't think they have any intentions of releasing a Macbook pro because the current iBook model is very nice.

The knowledge about the exact release date of the Macbook/Ibook is probaly on a strict need to know basis. So those responsible for the web pages might not be informed about the exact release and therefore keep updating the web pages as nothing will happen (at least I hope so).

why is there no iBook on that page?

I noticed that there are no macs using power pc chips on the page not just the ibook. I suspect this is b/c it doesn't make sense to advertise products that the company has publicly stated will be discontinued.

But that's an over-simplification. I've never worked w/ Apple b4 but I have worked on the PR side for hundreds med & tech products and websites, and press events. Without exception, the idea of how to present the product line w/ respect to the company image is a heavily debated issue. I'd bet my rent check there were a series of meetings w/ a huge list of reasons for and against putting power pc chipped macs on the page. Seriously, you wouldn't believe some of the "reasoning" people put forth in these meetings. At any rate, the ney's have it.

UK 0% offer extended

The O% offer in the UK has been extended with the end date moved from 29th April to 31st May - ibooks are "qualifying macs" under that offer so I would guess that they will continue to be around until the end of this month. :(

Well then - at least I can relax for a month. Or perhaps it is time for the MBP instead.........

I work as a computer techie in sweden, and i noticed that our distributors(all of them) does not deliver the 12" iBook anymore, and the 14" incoming stockroom(spelling?) is zero. i guess thats because the 12" is more popular but as all of you would have figured out by the above facts, this should mean something right?

Just for everyone to know. :)

The new MacBook could be released at NECC (National Educational Computing Conference 4-7 July  ) ... Or maybe not, NO, it is TOO LATE. :p

this ish sucks, getting really tired of this waiting. just get on with teh show already put the darn things out, apple= some prick

When the Intel iMacs and the MacBook PROs were released, you could still buy G5 iMacs and PowerBooks for awhile.

is it possible apple will introduce the MacBook in next week's E3 ? just found the E3 is on Apple hot news event page... Apple, E3?!
It's slightly possible, but my money wouldn't be on it, unless Apple announces there's going to be some kind of Stevenote.

My money's still on a separate launch event. Other Apple products may be announced at the same time, but I think if this is an entirely new laptop, and by all accounts it is, Steve's going to want to launch this one himself and not simply have it on display at a video games show.

If it is announced there, then it's good news I guess because there's no way Apple could launch a new machine with Intel integrated graphics at a games show and not get ripped to shreds.

On the other hand, E3 might be the perfect venue to launch the Powerbook G5... that's if it's not released tomorrow.

What if the MacBook looked like this, and better still remained the iBook?

Honestly, I couldn't care less about the iSite, something that must add a little to the cost. I notice that it does not seem to have a latch, to the case could be correct I suppose.

To be honest, I far prefer this rendering to the MacBook Pro. I'd buy it in a flash.

NB: I had nothing to do with the above rendering.

I think they'll be taken off immediately but don't worry an intel ibook/ macbook will be probably less than $ 1000

yes, but when the Mac Mini was released, and the 17" MBP, both were taken off from the PPC section.

So chances are, the iBook will go too.

If you want an iBook now, either look on the refurb store now and buy one to get a good deal, Buy one off the store now, OR risk it and check out the refurb store after the Macbook's release.
