Brick???
What the hell...

But really.. all I wanted was for Apple to use the same material they used in the new Nano, and make colored Macbooks... like PINK!! ;)
Seriously... didn't they have great response with the colored iMacs and iBooks???

*legit info ahead*

the new macbook wont come with a power supply. Just a cable. The power "brick" won't be there anymore.

^ Return of the Pismo? Modular drive bays?

Brick…might also mean we are finally getting a G5 notebook.

best picture ever..where's the elevator? Anyway, brick as in tablet is my guess. Goes along with the whole "product shift" possibly hurting Apple's bottom line from their last conference call.

The tablet mac will be here soon..it replaces the macbook and changes computers forever (like the ipod and iphone changed things). Physical keyboards and mice will be so 2007 after this thing is released...

BRIC - Brazil, Russia, India, China. Four important emerging markets. We're going to be seeing a significantly lower new price point!

Also aluminium. Lmao.

I read on another site a theory that "brick" is symbolic......

How do you break "Windows"?......Throw a brick through it.

With the rumored aggressive price cuts, these might be the products that will garner more marketshare for apple

Finally, were going with a more sustainable approach. Terra cotta. Shutting the new macbook would make such a lovely sound! And when you're done, you can tile a spanish roof with it.

Best code name ever! I'm sure it will catch on as a nickname for the product.

Gosh, I hope the MacBook isn't replaced by a tablet. No matter how cool Apple makes a tablet, my productivity would go down oodles of percentage points if I have a keyboard with no tactile feedback.

Please let it be a "macbook touch" tablet type thing. All I need is a larger touchscreen device with 1 USB port and I'm set ;)
Makes sense to me. If you consider the size (length and width; not height) of a regular red brick, it seems like a decent form factor for a small tablet / large iPod Touch.

I'm going with the 9to5 line of thinking with the brick being a wired/wireless USB hub, probably with a pass-through power supply onto the mac. At a guess it may also have 802.11n and a basic print server. - Although the later may encroach on the existing airport product line.

There's been some speculation amongst the mac web about a codename ("Brick") associated with the upcoming MacBook update.

The name originates from 9to5Mac, apparently based on the same Asian sources as the "rainbow" iPod Nanos. The "rainbow" iPod nano rumors were apparently misinterpreted as multi-colored individual iPods, but in retrospect, it seems the term instead related to the colors of the rainbow that the new iPod nano are now available in.

Since then, the site has been told that the new MacBook update will be 'all about the Brick'. The exact meaning of which is left up for debate.
That's why I think that thinking outside the box may give the key to finding out what this "brick" is. Nobody figured out the real meaning of the "rainbow" before the iPod nanos were announced, so maybe the same thing will happen with the "brick."

And when the true meaning of the "brick" is revealed (or if someone figures it out), the apparent obviousness of it will hit us over the head like a... brick. :D

Some speculation in this thread points to the "brick" being building blocks for a modular type design of the new notebooks.

No more power bricks. That's what it means.

That's a nice idea... after all, people have been working on charging through inductance for a long time. That is, you set your device on a charging pad... no wires.

As an example... the Sonicare toothbrush.
