those applesacs are way too tofu deadhead hackysac for me. they look like what bigfoot would carry a computer in. if there was a bigfoot. and if he had a computer.

I emailed them, here's their response:
"Because the product is new, customers have commented that it does shed a little at first but goes away over time. I would recommend running a lint roller over it to pick up those loose fibers from manufacturing."

interesting. well, the search for the perfect sleeve continues. i did not know how many different ones there were.

sorry to hear about applesac shedding and that they don't do much besides cover it up...if i knew that I might've gone with SFbags.com except I still think these will be more protection from the looks of it.

The review didn't say that it shed at all. She just said she could see it happening. I bet it's hardly an issue.

Thanks for the link to that review. Although the bag looks very sharp, it looks like I'm gonna have to pass because I wouldn't be able to stand seeing white fluffy stuff sticking to my screen and in between my keys.

The search for the perfect slip cover continues

To be fair, I turned my Applesac inside out when I received it and gave it a good dabbing with sellotape and just shook out the loose fibres and since then I've seen nothing coming off it. Never had any loose fibres in my old macbook keys and so far seen nothing on the new Macbook.

I got a foofbag. The Origami Kuro design. I think they're extremely good looking. Like the AppleSacs (which are great too, I think), the're vertical. They don't have a flap, though, but that's fine with me. I wanted a sleeve that would allow me to just slide in the MacBook from the top.

Here's the foofbag I got.

I'm glad you got that foof bag, the photo you linked to is my photo and I LOVE that bag. I get so many compliments on it.

Booq!

Booq are releasing the Taipan Skin M which is a neoprene soft case like the incase sleeve and the Vyper M3 which is a nylon harder case for more protection. Both specially designed for the new MBP and slated for a 25th november release, I am waiting...

This looks pretty cool. Says it'll ship Nov 25 so I'm assuming they are for the new MB's. They make nice bags too.

Yeah if you look at the laptop compartment specs they are exactly right, same for the Vyper M3 and Taipan Skin M for the MBP.

I never been a fan of the foof bags or sleeves with zippers. The foof bags would be better imo if they had a flap, and I always fear that sleeve bags with zippers will damage my laptop

Heh, that's cool. Yeah, I love the design. Didn't at once, but as I was deciding on which foofbag to get, it grew on me more and more. Which ultimately resulted in me actually ordering it. Very curious about how it looks for real.

My applesac came today! It's for the previous gen macbook, not the alumbook that I have, but it still fits perfectly and looks great! I got the patterned one with the black and white :)

It looks very easy to make on your own..I think I'll go to the fabric store and make a few more myself :p

Oh well, at least it's well-made

The fleece hasn't shed on mine yet....and I used a lint roller just to be safe :D

Case Logic Sleeve $25 at Amazon.

Most sleeves have a protective fabric on the inside of the zipper to prevent damage to the MB. This case is made for the MB and has the protection from the zipper. It's a good price too.

I received my waterfield sleeve in the mail today (www.sfbags.com). I chose this one in part because they were the first as far as I know to make a bag specifically for the new aluminum MacBook which is a bit more than a tenth of an inch thinner than the whitebook.

It's a local (to me) San Francisco company with very personable service, ie. I got an email from the owner when I ordered the bag. Service was fast. The bag is attractive and very solidly constructed with some nice details like a strap at the bottom hold on to while pulling the notebook out.

It fits the aluminum MB like, well, a sleeve. I first bought the neoprene incase sleeve which is a one-size fits all for the old and new MB...it's fine but it's loose on the new machine. This one is a custom fit.

It's not cheap but for those willing to pay for thoughtful design and local manufacturing, it's a good choice.

The SFBag looks good I just wish it could be zipped up. I'd like something waterproof.

I don't think I'm alone with these requirements:

1. some sort of minimal protection from blunt impacts (preferably other than simple cloth)
2. some sort of protection from sharp objects
3. waterproof/water-resistant

SFBag:
1. pass with neoprene
2. pass with ballistic nylon
3. fail as it's just a flap that encloses

If I'm caught out on the pouring rain, the bag carrying the sleeve may leak a bit of water, so that sleeve(or case o whatever) needs to at least resist water.

Thanks for posting the pics of the WaterField sleeve for the MacBook. It'd be perfect for my needs if it had a handle. There will be times when I don't want to carry the computer over my shoulder.

Anyone have experience with this:
http://www.sfbags.com/products/laptopsuedejacket/laptopsuedejacket.htm

I have a padded sleeve in my backpack were i used to slide my old mb into (with a radtech sleeve). Was hoping I can do that again with my pro. I don't need anything too thick, just something to prevent it from scratching.

I would buy the radtech again but it was a hassle to put on without the hooks, which this has, i'm not too sure about the quality and how it compares to the Sleevecase from WF. seeing the pics, i really like the Sleevecase, but i'm not to sure how much bulk it would add

I bought one of these for my netbook and its superb.

Out of interest what can you fit in the pocket on the macbook one. Is an a4 folder going to fit? Or will an a5 one fit if not?
