Apple has a tradition to do unannounced updates on tuesdays. In your time zone, the online apple store goes offline around noon for the update to take place. It comes back onlie a couple of hours later. If the update was today it already should be online.

ok,

i checked the apple site (apple.de) since 12 utc (Germany), the site wasn´t down.

****! I sent mail yesterday to "eplehuset.no", the biggest apple-retailer in Norway. I asked them when they'd get the new Macbook Pros in and the only answer I got was: "We don't know..." No, regards or anything else :S

I think that apple have a HIGHLY strictly policy with every shop thei're selling to so that they won't reveal anything OR that the update simply is far away. If the update isn't here before mid-march I'll seriously freak out!

But what the hell...I'm going to a Metallica concert in april and that is MUCH more to look forward to...hehe :D

It's just my point of view...

I used bold to people comment something bad or good about my opinion.

I can't explain because I can't write in english... sorry

Sorry...I dont have the nerves to read that. Why is the next update a fail, can you explain it to me? And do you suspect WHEN it might come?

:D It's simply said Apple are now stuck in "conflict of interest" whereby they are using Intel's CPU or Nvidia GPA structure which is just now become MnA with their competitor AMD
It's not so obvious but still be a chance to explain why the update is postponed continuously

Here is a good summary of the entire article:

Intel can read the writing on the wall. They know Apple didn't just spend a billion dollars to produce a processor only for the iPad. They understand that Apple is becoming as much a competitor (Except Lightpeak?) as a partner and it is no longer in Intel's best interest to give Apple special status.

You'll have to read the whole thing in order to get the "why" :)

Based on your sig, looks like you've been waiting for 4 years or so. Why would a few more months matter? :p

If apple wouldn't be so mysterious around its products, we just could decide whether to wait or not. I need a laptop within this and 8 days so I really don't know anymore what to do sigh..

Get an i7 powered notebook if you can until the MacBooks come out, then dump it on eBay. Makes more sense to go that route rather than get the current MacBook build as they would depreciate dramatically once the new releases come out, if they do. i7 Powered notebooks however should still retain much of its value even after a month or two.

Responses like this make me wonder how many people never buy applications for their computers. I mean, I have about $2K invested in software. It's not like I can just flip to Windows and back to Mac at the drop of a hat.

I guess the vast, vast majority of folks just use a web browser and some type of multimedia player and that's about it. Nothing wrong with it, just surprised.

parallels.

And unless the software you're using has a ****** vendor, you could probably trade the license in for the mac version.
