This is looking remarkably similar to the Nikon situation where there has been great anticipation and disappointment over the non-announcement of the D700 replacement:

i have never been in this position.
heretofore, my computer cycle has been staggered with apple's such that my need coincides with a "mid product cycle" for apple.
this results in my being able to buy right when i need something new.
well this time is different. i need a new laptop. i have decided to go from MB to MBP. and, for the first time, i am playing the waiting game.
i can't wait, and i hope this is the tuesday for which i have been waiting.
i hope the processors are up to snuff.
cheers,
kyle
I'm leaving for Europe for a month. I need a MacBook Pro 13" and today is the last day, so I have to buy the current model. This sucks. I'm hoping now that Apple doesn't release the new ones until after I return so I can sell mine as used when I return.
The following is going to be logic based and therefore what i believe the most likely release and timeframe for the new MacBook Pro's
(You may point out faults in this logic)
1. Today is the one year Anniversary of the last refresh for MBP's we had. It is also the longest we have gone without a refresh.
2. Taking the information from point one, we would assume then, that Apple will not be waiting until June, because that would be absolutely absurd.
3. Apple will also not want to crush the iPad's launch with these new Macbooks, so we can also assume that the new ones will be either now very very soon, or much later. And with the logic from point 2, we can assume the former.
4.Today is a "Tech Conference" and this coming after the latest flurry of i7 macbook pro rumors. (1333 mhz DDR3 RAM spotted, benchmarks, etc)
5. I believe then, that we will see these new machines no later (if they are releasing them soon) than the First week of March. (based on logic from all these points)
Problems with the above anyone??![]()

Hackintosh, 100%. It's just a Core i5 PC with a faked system ID.slightly sideways topic, but I was looking for i5 perf vrs c2d (about to press the button on a 13"), and found this:
http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/221835
MacPro4,1
Intel Core i5 650
Mac OS X 10.6 (Build 10A432)
Hackintosh? Real deal?
Anyone else notice that this is under the mac section of the website?!?!?!?!
Do you have an iPhone? It also has the iTunes store build in. Although you can use your iPhone without owning a laptop, it is easier and more usefull to have one. And why do you think Steve jobs specifically mentioned that the ipad can sync with iTunes? Seems you haven't done you're homework right, you get an F! I'm sorry...
If I was Microsoft, I'd be starting up another "laptop hunters" TV ad campaign about how you can get newer tech for far less money.
unfortunately i would have to agree. i am very close to just purchasing a PC at this point. ive been using macs since 2004 and it'd be sad to go back to PC but it's a recession and you just can't expect me to pay that much money for something i can get so much cheaper and newer. something is wrong if i can't run more than 2 VMs on a $2000 machine that another machine costing $1200 can do.
i just hope they release them already. i am very close to just getting a PC instead.

I wonder how many people who are on the fence will end up buying a Vaio instead of an MBP, just based on not having any solid evidence of an actual release date?
Vaio's offerings are pretty freaking tempting...even being an MBP owner.

just go ahead
if you do not value enough the troube free experience of osx, and just cant wait to get a slightly faster machine (cause pcs are not that much faster, unless u get clunky ones that burn your laps and battery life last 0)
until apple start having serious problems and screw up big time i would never ever again use a pc
but i guess some people just cant avoid having the fastest super machine even though full of trouble...
enjoy
When you look at the Kingston site, and be a little bit creative, you'll see the following URL does exist:
http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/con...asp?root=us&LinkBack=&ktcpartno=KTA-MB1333/4G
(and an other, non-existing product, KTA-MB1437/4G does not: http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/con...asp?root=us&LinkBack=&ktcpartno=KTA-MB1437/4G ).
So seems to be pretty sure..
