Probably because they also have to replenish retail stock with these models as well. I feel like BTO would ship quicker since those arent for anyone but those who order them.

If I were in your shoes, I'd be calling apple support to see what's going on. At the very least, you might end up with some freebies for your pain and suffering.

It's disheartening to see the same exact model ordered almost 24hours after mine get shipped first.
Looks like I got lucky. Package made it to Minneapolis last night. Out for delivery by 10:30am this morning!

Arrived locally in less than 24 hours. Out for delivery 6/29

Yeah, I hear that - it doesn't seem right. For what it's worth, mine was quoted 2-3 weeks with an estimated delivery date of 7/2 - 7/9. I don't know why, but I heard that some of the earlier orders were quoted a longer delivery time.
I hope you get yours very soon - at least they're shipping the 768GB SSD's.

It took 3 hours to change from Preparing to ship to shipped with a tracking number. I decided not to call Apple to try and get anything free since my order was not even close to being late or delayed. If apple is going to give something more then shipping for free it should be reserved for those who are having order delays for no apparent reason. I think all who place orders on the 12th or before and are either still processing or have been stuck in preparing to ship should get some sort of gift or compensation for the delay. My order changed from processing to preparing almost exactly 2 weeks to the minute.

However, I think the 3rd July may be the date it is handed over to Apple by. I still have a Marie in transit with my gift card to happen, so my current estimate of the 7th is probably more realistic.
Be sneaky. Once it ships the tracking page will have a short reference beginning with an 8 (mine is 8208781962). Input this into Expeditors' tracking (Google exp.o) and it will come up with flight details from China.Thanks, that's exactly what I needed to know!

You would need to convert or link one of those numbers to a FEDx, UPS, DHL, etc...tracking number...it is from there we may be able to get flight info.
You heard correctly. Those of us that ordered immediately after the store went online were quoted 3-5 weeks (July 9th - 20th). Apparently Apple deems it more important to match quoted times rather then ship them earlier based on queue.
