I've read things regarding this, people say there isn't a really large difference between 2.3/2.6/2.7, even in benchmarks. You should get the 2.6/2.7 if you plan to do tons of video editing as it will slightly speed up your encoding and rendering. Only reason why I'd get the 2.6 is for the 512GB SSD, but it's cheaper to get an external HDD instead

When you do a lot of rendering, video then you need to get 16Mb of RAM and an SSD. Remote disk slow it down

Anyone ever seen anything like this on their tracking with FedEx? Not sure why it would go to a local facility in China when it's got to go to VA.

Yes my tracking left FedEx origin facility in Shanghai, CN then it turns around today and track at local Fedex facility in Shanghai,CN. ????? Seems backwards

Macbook Pro Retina Arrived!

My first Mac has arrived! I ordered at 3 P.M. on the 13th estimated 3-4 weeks, shipped june 29th arrived today!

Specs: 2.6 CPU 512gb 16gb Ram

Im going away July 13th and Im trying to time my order right. Im getting a 2.3/16/256, is the 3-4 week estimate correct? I want to order so it doesn't come during my vacation, but so I can get asap, thanks

Don't recommend you trying to time it right. Instead, either wait till you get back or have it delivered to someone you trust.

Last thing you want is to have it be delivered while you're not there and it's either sitting out there for anyone to pick up, or FedEx has it and gave up trying to deliver up to 3 times and then sends it back to Apple.

I'm going to try, as soon as I have a tracking number, to redirect it to a nearby FedEx store. It may take waiting until after the first failed delivery attempt, though. (And they will fail - even if I'm somehow home, FedEx is terrible about not finding my apartment.)

That way, I didn't have to time my order at all (actually what I'd have to do is call a day that I would guess it would come in off work), I would just wait for it to go to the FedEx store and drive there.

i finished my order 30 seconds after the online store opened on the 11th and am still processing. standard 2.7/16/768, nothing else in the order.

it seems anyone who ordered a 768gb model immediately is stuck in processing while people who ordered on the 12, 13, 15, and 26th are getting their 768gb models.

Did you just get a UPS tracking no? My original delivery estimate was the 18th, which then changed to the 9th when shipped - now have just refreshed the page and it's now supposed to get here on the 5th (Thursday)! Seems to be coming direct from China as per what the UPS number says!

I snagged one at the Southlake store on Thursday. They had the base model and the 2.6/8/512 models. They said that they haven't seen an ultimate version in their store to date.
