Just receive word from boss... they are requesting that I travel the week of the 16th & 23rd.... bad news is that is when Apple says it will deliver. Wow, I can only hope for an early shipment. Ordered on 6.16.
I'm in Toronto, July 4th estimate as well. Based on my gift card, free superdrive, other peoples experiences and the fact that in was in Memphis yesterday I'm still confident in tomorrow, I don't think I can wait another day.
FDX28 just landed in AK. Hope to get an update soon that my compy was on that fight.
It did!!!!
Just called 1-800 Apple. I insisted on speaking to a manager - the person that answered was clearly reading from a script. I didn't get any where with the manager. She can't explain why computers ordered on 06/12 are shipping before mine. She kind of said they go by the shipping window and then she backed down. Of course, then she tells me that all she can see is my order. I also explained that I configured another exact same system on the 06/12 (which I did) and that showed a 2-4 week window. In retrospect I should have cancelled my original order but I thought Apple would go by order time and not shipping window. Obviously, I got that one wrong.
So, I sit and wait and keep calling the area stores. She probably has put a black mark next to my name now!
I received mine today, had it delivered to work, first UPS came, then DHL, then they stepped out to check the PO Box, then FedEx came after that. It is so nice, I was using it for a few minutes, then looked back at my old MacBook I was using I between my MacBook pro failing, and my retina being delivered, the is when I realized how bad the old screens looked.
I ordered a 2.3/16/256 with TB ethernet adapter, 6/12/2012 12:00PM.
I'm in the same boat with all of you 11th of June 2.7/16/768ers ... Still processing. Apple has nothing to say about rumors that people that ordered the same config after that date are getting theirs before us. Unsure how this mess up could have happened. Perhaps they gave us a window for shipping based on initial production estimates, and when things changed later the new orders were put on the new window and we were stuck in the 3-5 week window.
I also got mine today. 2.3/16/256 --> no accessories. I kind of had a fluke thing happen to me that turned out to be a blessing in disguise. When running my credit card while processing my order, Apple received a block from my credit card company. They immediately emailed me a notification that an error had occurred and to please call them at my earliest convenience. Of course that earliest convenience was as soon as I had read the email! I talked to an Apple representative and got them the money they needed and I happened to mention that it was about a week and a half before I was supposed to have my laptop and I still hadnt seen my status change from Processing Order. I explained I had sold my other laptop in anticipation of the new retina display and thus was without a laptop. He upgraded the status of my shipping from standard to priority shipping and instead of my laptop being delivered by the 10th of July, it was delivered today (three days after my call!). I might consider calling again next time I order a product from Apple and it is potentially delayed!!!
PS. Loving the new laptop so far...at least for the first 15 minutes i have had it sitting on my desk in front of me!
Think a flight will get out of AK today from FedEx? It's only just past noon AK time.
Jul 1, 2012 6:56 PM In transit MEMPHIS, TN
Jul 1, 2012 6:00 PM Departed FedEx location MEMPHIS, TN
Jun 30, 2012 1:43 AM Arrived at FedEx location MEMPHIS, TN
Could this be customs? (Coming into Canada)
Yep, heard alot about the 3-5 week window getting by passed by people that ordered at a later date.

awesome story....but all the standard deliveries have been upgraded to express shipping. Lots of us have been getting these a week earlier on average.

Pretty sure we're on the same truck/plane. It could be, however doesn't Fedex usually show when it is going through customs? Doesn't "In Transit" mean it is moving on a truck/plane?

That is exactly what is happening.
They will work through the orders based on delivery estimate, not precise order chronology.
It is much safer all the way around for them to honor the dates. Believe it or not in some cases they could be in trouble by delivering to a person with a later arrival date before delivering to those with an earlier date, even if the person with an earlier date in fact ordered after the other.
It sucks for those of us who wanted it the worst, and hence ordered the soonest, especially seeing as though we are traditionally big apple spenders. The supply chain management however, for better or worse, doesn't take that into account.
What matters is when Apple promised the products to people, and in this case because of some re-alignment, the later (chronological) orders were actually able to come in earlier (most likely a component or factory came online a week earlier than anticipated, and hence once that time-slot opened they began selling that stock before going back and re-selling the later stock)
Oh wellNot more than another week or two now!
The real question is if there is any concession apple could make to apologize for it all. It does kind of suck, even if it is (somewhat) logical.
If anyone tries and/or is successful I would love to hear about it.

b.s.ordered 2.3 ghz base model on the 25th. It just shipped and expected delivery is on friday the 6th.
People are receiving their orders a week earlier. I had some hope that our 3-5 week laptops will show up earlier as well. It seems that a sizable group has been penalized for ordering as soon as the store opened and spending as much as we could on the configuration.
I sincerely hope that the "3-5-weekers" are not sitting on a glitch, and that we won't be delayed beyond July 20th. That would be horrible.
