Just got my 2.3/16/256 rMBP today. Ordered on the 16th with an ETA of the 17th-23rd of July. It shipped to CT with fedex economy distribution. I'm pretty sure I barely made the delivery cut off for the day. But anyways, I was surprised to to receive my rMBP three days ahead of schedule.

My ABT order shipped out this morning!! I'm so excited! Oh and there customer service is fantastic. Really great place to buy from. I'm surprised i've never heard of them before yesterday. I forget who posted the link to their site, but Thank you!

ordered (2.3/16GB/256) rMBP on Jul'3rd. Status still shows Processing and 3-4 weeks shipping (Aug 1 - Aug 7).

I just received my AppleCare for my rMBP. I got it on eBay for $150. :p

This is a good deal, no? I think it's a steal! :p

Apple sells it for $380 or $280 with EDU discount.

If you live in the US (or have a US mailbox like me) the seller still has "more than 10 available". He is selling it under the item number MD013LL/A and not specifying whether it's for 13", 15" or 17" so that's probably why not many are buying it. Or maybe because he's calling it "Apple Protection Plan" and not AppleCare as people would search for it.

Enjoy!

PS. Disclaimer: I am not in any way related or affiliated with the seller, just decided to spend a few minutes to help save money to those who like Apple stuff. :p

How legit is it to buy applecare from sources like ebay? Would hate to find out there was an issue a year or so down the road :(

Because they should be treated like the rest of retail outlets, who get base models.

Umm, not quite, there's a difference between a reseller and a retailer. Resellers can put in an order for whatever the hell they want because they're directly linked to Apple. Retailers just receive shipments from Apple.

It's not like resellers have a step ahead of everyone who ordered from Apple, I'm sure that ABT put in their order for the Retina models within the week they went on sale, and now that they have stock, they're helping us out who ordered at a later date.

I seems to be fine, according to this thread. I don't really know why it would be an issue where you bought it from, it's not like they have a way of knowing where unless they asked you, which you could lie about anyway.

Thanks @Sir Al for posting by the way, I hope they'll have stock for a while because I would definitely be saving some cash.

I went ahead and bought the $150 applecare from ebay -- how could they afford to sell it so inexpensively?! If it's legit, this is a hell of a deal.

This, plus Abt's no tax, has saved me over $400 on my machine!!

Thanks to both Josh at Abt and the poster of the eBay deal!

Its usually legit if its sold by a reputable seller. Amazon have them too.

I'm not sure if the rMBP needs a different applecare though as the ones I have seen just say 'Apple Care Protection For MacBook Pro' but if you add apple care at checkout on the apple website it specifically says 'Retina'.

Have you attempted to register your unit with the eBay AppleCare? Did it work?

I just bought the same one!

Yeah, I checked that out myself, when you go to the AppleCare section, the "15" and 17" MacBook Pro" and "15" MacBook Pro with Retina display" both link to the same thing, so I'm pretty sure there isn't a difference.

Awesome!

Also, according to the "Is it safe to buy AppleCare from eBay?" thread from 2008, some resellers are apparently bound to purchase a certain number of AppleCares in order to remain a reseller (and will sometimes offload their unwanted numbers at discounted prices).

So cool!

Apparently md013ll/a is the version offered in the canadian apple store website. I wonder if it works in the US?

Did a quick google and found this, which is promising.

I would also like an answer to this, even though I've already taken the risk and purchased the plan.

I don't think it's the Canadian plan though, the seller is in California and said that they only ship to the USA.

I bet you're right; man, obsessively reloading this thread for the past week has really paid off over the past 24 hours (abt deal + ebay applecare deal = saving $450 OCD-like tendencies!)

And: that + Overnight Saturday Delivery = One Happy Me.

Sorry if this has been asked 100 times before, but does Apple ship things out over the weekend?

I'd assume it moves over the weekend but won't be delivered. I wouldn't think that FedEX or w/e completely shuts down over the weekend.

Right? If I buy this Applecare plan, all in all I'll be paying about the same cost as the retail price of the MacBook model that I bought ($2400) :p we got an awesome deal :D

Now let's see who gets their MacBook first tomorrow
