I didn't get the retina even though I paid the same (I actually used the edu discount) because the thickness/weight didn't matter to me and I don't think the GPU is quite ready to push those extra pixels for heavy graphics tasks (I plan on playing some games and don't want to downscale to a non-native resolution because of the screen quality downgrade).

Either way, I think I'm going to be plenty happy with the Hi-Res since it is still an upgrade from my 2008 PRE-unibody 1440x MBP.

I'm excited, I even bought a rain stand with it. :)

Holy cow. I just placed this order TODAY and it has already shipped. That is pretty amazing considering the CPU, screen, and HDD were all changed.

Oh you silly rMBP buyers with your 2-3 week shipping times. :p
 
Woo! My base model 2.3/8/256 ordered on 6/27, went preparing about 36 hours ago, and has officially shipped as of an hour ago! I almost feel bad for those ordering before me that haven't seen any movement yet, but I'm very giddy right now :D

It's just a little strange that Apple's email is quoting an arrival of 7/25 (a week tomorrow) when I got expedited. Fedex is quoting 7/20, much much earlier than Apple's date. Fortunately, most people have been getting theirs, it seems, with Fedex's dates (or sometimes even a day before) so I'm more optimistic of having it in my hands on Friday! Just strange that the dates are so different, but with Apple's online store down, maybe it'll be updated.

****! what is this... ordered 22/6 and still no movement what so ever come on apple its just a base model..... Everyone else his or her order seems to ship:mad:

I'm late to the game - ordered on the 5th of July (wasn't planning on getting the rmbp this year, but my late 2008 mbp died). The wait is now 2-3 weeks, but my delivery is still estimated for the 10th of August, so way over the 3-4 weeks estimate I got when I placed the order. And it's a base model (ordered for the US keyboard - I'm in Poland)!
I'm also quite jealous of those gift cards people are getting - apparently the Polish EDU store is the only one in the EU without the Back to School promo.
 
I think that pretty much all of them have been delivered from a few days to a week earlier than expected, even right at the beginning.

Oh, I thought that I'm the only one with the last entry of update being:

It's strange, I called Apple and the person who answered my call didn't know what was happening too and he promised to check with DHL. But he assured me that it will reach me by tonight 9pm as indicated in the email. DHL customer service, on the other hand, claimed that according to their tracking system, my parcel is still in Shanghai!!

i checked it via the DHL page redirected from the Apple order page.

well... i was refreshing just tat page all the time that i didnt know apple page is down :eek:

anyway it is possible to check from DHL website directly by keying in the tracking number. it should show almost the same thing.
 
Just checked online banking and the amount has fallen off my available credit! Ordered June 27th and hoping i'll see preparing when the store is back up! :D :D

I had checked the Apple Shipment tracking before it went down and it said it cleared customs at 8:30 AM.

DHL Tracking shows the following: Departed Facility in SHANGHAI - CHINA, PEOPLES REPUBLIC (Date 16th). I called up DHL and the lady said parcel is still in China. LOL

Later I called up Apple and they confirmed that it arrived and cleared customs at around 8:30 AM. They guaranteed that it will be delivered by 9 PM.

Finally a month of waiting is about to get over :D

Apple site is down but http://expo.expeditors.com/ says 18-Jul-2012 07:19:00 GMT Out for Delivery goldstar.

I hope that means what I think it means unless it gets delivered somewhere else first? The delivery date apple gave me was friday.
 
Finally, I'm typing this on my first Macbook Pro!

Order on June 20th, shipped on July 14th. Went around China, to Dubai, on to Germany before landing in Stanstead airport, overnight to Dartford and delivered in London yesterday afternoon.

It's so beautiful and well worth the wait! I hope everybody who is still waiting gets theirs soon.

Strangely, I'll actually be sad to leave this thread now, after days of refresh after refresh.

Same, store came back up and I'm showing preparing for shipment!

3 weeks to the day when I ordered. I was quoted available in 3-4 weeks with delivery 27 Jul - 2 Aug at time of order.

@Hippocrates: Did you get your rMBP? DHL still says mine has not reached. :mad:

It's insane. The crazy thing is, when I called AS Online before ordering, I was told that the base models are being shipped very fast - the woman looked at the current orders and said they were shipping one ordered 3 days earlier!

I haven't. Apple customer service officer called and told me that DHL hasn't got back to them yet (just before he knocked off from work). The only information available is my rMBP is already in Singapore but DHL has yet to locate it. He added that there's slim chance I'll be receiving it today. :(
