How did you order a 2.3/16/768? I only got the 2.6 because they forced the processor on you for the 512 SSD...

I get the feeling that the different configurations go down physically different production lines at Foxcon. Once all of the similar components have been assembled (screen, body, battery, etc) then they prob split to fill the individual specs (processor, motherboard w/ mem, ssd). Ordering a lower demand spec (2.7 processor) puts the machine on a less congested line and thus out the door faster.

This is all complete conjecture on my part. I have no real idea how they assemble these things. It just seems that this could be the way they are doing things based on the fact that the 2.7/16/512 seem to be shipping faster than the 2.3/16/256

It might be that they just have more 2.7GHz CPUs and 512/768GB SSDs in stock than 2.3GHz and 256GB SSDs

I ordered on July 9 and mine just shipped I ordered the 2.6/512/16 I am not sure how but I just got the email this morning expected delivery of the 25th

I ordered a rMBP 2.3/16/256 on June 25th, and the wire-transfer payment reached apple on June 27th or 28th.

My order changed from "processing" to "Preparing for shipment" today (July 20th), 11 days before the earliest estimated delivery date July 31st (the estimated delivery date spans from July 31st to August 6th).

I tried to read this thread but I couldn't understand what I wanted to know:

Given that my order went to the "preparing for shipment" status on July 20th, is there any chance I receive my rMBP BEFORE July 31st?
I'm asking this because 11 days (7 working days) sound like a good number of days to deliver a shipment to a major city like Milan.

This will arrive well before 7-31-12, mine was in preparing status and changed to shipped with 6 hours . to be delivered by July 25 2012

Yes - while they won't deliver on Saturday (unless Saturday delivery was chosen, not an option with Apple). Things continue to move over the weekend to gear up for Monday deliveries.

The delivery time depends on the chosen shipping method, and the shipping company. In the US, delivery would be relatively quick, but I don't know what shipping to Milan is like.

Pfft. FedEx is being anything but quick today! Been upwards of 24 hours since mine was marked "in transit" from anchorage with no further updates.

paying for expedited shipping seems to have been a complete waste of money for me.

Same here! No movement from yesterday. Still "in transit" in Anchorage. There must be some reason for not trying to deliver them today. It could have easily been done.

No to upset anyone, but mine says preparing for shipment now.

2.7/16/512 ordered 7/13 and preparing to ship 7/20.

All I can think of is maybe they prepare these in batches or maybe they pushed me up because I had to spend an hour on the phone to get my order done correctly. Who knows but it seems they are starting to catch up.

I've done it before and you have to request that they hold it at your local sort facility. Sometimes though, with packages that aren't scheduled to be delivered until Monday, they'll lock them in a container at the local sort facility that they won't open until early Monday morning. That only happened to me once though with my MW3 preorder heh. The FedEx rep on the phone told me I could pick it up and when I got there they told me that! Pissed me off!!
