Preparing for shipment round noon 7/16
Shipped round midnight 7/17
Delivered morning of 7/20
Victoria, BC, went Shanghai -> Memphis -> Mississauga -> Vancouver -> Victoria

In perfect condition, no dead pixels as far as I can see, no ghosting, no creaking of cases, none of the regular problems I've seen. I'm really happy with it.

Sweet I hope it's in the local depot tomorrow and I can pick it up instead of waiting for Monday...


edit: looks like we are on FX28 to Memphis and (if Fedex goes through TO on the way to BC) we will take FX128 to Toronto, going by past history the only two flights that would allow for Monday delivery are leaving either in ~5 hours (Saturday 4am CST arrives in TO @ 630am EST) or in ~42 hours (Sunday 5pm CST arrives in TO @ 8pm EST)

I'm in the US. Looks like the wait times are getting shorter for everyone. Maybe they are finally catching up.
Expected delivery was August 2-8. They did hook me up with expedited shipping so we will see if that helps any.

I just called Apple to ask why July 10th and newer orders are shipping but not my July 4th order. They gave me a free Superdrive as compensation. Not a bad deal. :)

Good for you! I should have called them last week when the same was happening to me..
 
Shipping times are down to 1-2 weeks in US store! My 7/14 order is still showing 2-3 weeks:confused: I hope that changes soon.

I'm in the same boat as you. Could have waited a week, and currently at least it would not have made a difference.

They wouldn't give me anything, or at least didn't offer.

I asked about the expedited shipping because I had heard that was being done for all orders, but she also said no to that. :confused:

Finally shipped!

2.6/16/512. Ordered on 7/2/12 with EDU discount. I paid for the expedited shipping and the service type is "IP Direct Distribution"

Does anyone know why "Hold at FedEx Location service is not available for this shipment." ? I work from 9-7 every day, and I would prefer not to presign... Don't want it to be stolen, and I don't think baking in the sun with these 100° days would be great for it either.

I understand the arguments about there being an extreme level of demand for this MacBook Pro with Retina Display. I also realize that Apple is doing everything it can to get these orders out as fast as possible. I think the problem started when they announced that it'd be shipping "Today" during the keynote. Today really means 3-5 weeks from that day.

I think they've started doing this kind of thing as a matter of practice. They realize they can't fulfill all the orders in a reasonable time-frame. But they also realize that people are willing to put up with it. As demonstrated by people like myself that ordered one, and everyone else on this thread. It's sort of borderline bad business to make people wanting your products wait up to a month for said products. But they can get away with it, and will continue to do so.

thing is apple has learned from past experience,in the past they OVER stocked and lost money,ever since apple has "under stocked" so if something doesn't sell well they didn't over stock and waste money.Many companies do over stock because they expect the product will sell well, like HP had recently done but then it didn't sell as well as they expected. As they say, having expectations will only let you down..Expect the worse,hope for the best.:rolleyes:
