My package is listed as "In Transit":

Jul 26, 2012 10:43 PM
In transit
SHANGHAI CN

Does that mean it has left Shanghai and is inbound to the USA or should I expect to see another status update before it leaves Shanghai? Also how do you know which flight it is on? Since the time stamp was 10:43 pm, can I assume it was on the 11:30 pm flight from Shanghai->Memphis? How can I know?

I have the same message on my tracking page. So that pretty much means they haven't really passed it on to UPS yet?
That generally means one of:

  • Your item has been packaged, and is waiting to be loaded on the truck.
  • Your item has been loaded on the truck.
  • The truck is on the way to UPS.
  • The truck is at UPS, but hasn't yet been unloaded.
Once the truck is unloaded, and your package scanned, the status should change (however, note that UPS's systems seem slow at times -- sometimes the status updates quickly, but sometimes not).

My 2.3/16/256 RMBP ordered on July 6th FINALLY shipped. I decided not to cancel it (got one from ABT a couple weeks ago). Now I just need to find someone to buy it from me :p

just posting this as an FYI, my buddy just received his rmbp today, which he ordered on 7/13. His machine did NOT ship with mountain lion installed.

Mine is saying the same thing.

Left FedEx origin facility

I do believe that means it is on a plane to the US as mine has been sitting in this state for quite some time (makes sense if the plane is in the air). I also have expedited shipping, so I can't imagine it is not in the air. Of course I could be completely wrong on everything too, who knows.

Thanks, that'll be nice. I was wondering when ML would start shipping preinstalled.

The apple rep I spoke to said all bto's would ship with mountain lion PREinstalled. No update from Lion required.

As far as base models-last year it took 3-4 weeks before they started shipping with Lion preinstalled.

Finally shipped!

2.3/16/256

Ordered 7/2. Based off this thread and numerous folks that have already had their orders shipped - it seems like someone forgot about my rMBP.

Looks like it will be here by 7/31.

I have the same message on my tracking page. So that pretty much means they haven't really passed it on to UPS yet?

COMPLAINING:
Ok... tracking now says I'm going to be delivered the mac tomorrow by the end of the day.

Since apple said I'd receive the tracking number at least 48 hrs before the actual delivery, for tomorrow I scheduled some 4 hrs at the hospital for blood analyses and an ultrasonography of my wrist...
Of course, I received the tracking number today at 6 PM, the UPS online tracking would read it was too early to give me an estimated date of delivery up until 1-2 hours ago; but now at 11 PM, I discover that my delivery which was due July 31st, was received at 8 PM and is to be delivered tomorrow...

I'd generally be very happy I received my mac earlier, but isn't there a way to let me know AT LEAST one entire day before the actual delivery?

QUESTIONS concerning UPS STANDARD:
  1. Does UPS generally deliver in the morning, in the afternoon or the late afternoon?
  2. Is there a way I can discover what time is UPS going to deliver my mac tomorrow?
  3. How many delivery attempts are usually carried out in one single day?
  4. Do they deliver on Saturdays?
  5. If I'm not home, can I pickup the mac personally on saturday or I simply HAVE to wait until monday?

Thank you very much,

Oh my ****ing **** **** balls hell ****ing yeh my ****ing laptop finally ****ing went to preparing for ****ing shipment !!!!!!!!

Yow. Hopefully, it's just going to a closer distribution center. You'll just have to wait for the next update.

Finally got it. Can you believe it WAS actually in my location city 2 days ago, but since it wasn't scheduled for delivery, it went to a trip to the West coast and back? That is absurd. Nice carbon footprint, FedEx.

Ordered the base rmbp on July 19th and it's preparing for shipment

Late last Friday night (20th) it was reported that estimated shipping times had gone from 2-3 weeks to 1-2 weeks. However, those who ordered just prior to that change have continued to see shipping estimates longer than those who ordered after that date.

Your comment seems to confirm that Apple is indeed shipping orders in the order that they are received and that they don't update the estimated delivery information until you get the infamous "preparing for shipment" notification

If I remember correctly, Apple shipments must have an attempted delivery, they won't allow a hold for customer pick up <at least at first> but I could be wrong.
Call 1-800-PICK-UPS and see what your options are. You may be able to have it sent to a UPS Store for pickup.

lol, you're just screwed. In the US:

  1. It depends upon the area. Where I am, residential deliveries tend to be made in the afternoon/early evening.
  2. Nope.
  3. One (1)
  4. Generally not (I want to say, "no", but I had a UPS package mysteriously appear at my doorstep one Saturday, which really confused the h*ll out of me -- and no, it wasn't a case of the package being misdelivered to my neighbor on Friday, who then dropped it off at my door).
  5. Nope. Monday.
(I'm really hoping they ship my rMBP via Fedex. Here, if you're not home when Fedex tries to make a delivery, you can go to the local office at 5:45PM that same day and pick it up.)

I paid for 2-3 day shipping, and I'm not supposed to get it until Tuesday? It shipped out this morning... what kind of BS?

Friday, Monday, Tuesday.

Seems a pretty good deal for something coming all the way from China. I think I paid that much for 3 day shipping from Oregon and it took a week due to weekends and a holiday.
