I give up. You win.
This is THE FASTEST ordering to delivery in this entire thread. You ordered on Thursday and it will be delivered Monday? 4 days from order to doorstep? Wow, Unbelievable.

If you say it departed Memphis for your city yesterday. it WILL be delivered tomorrow [Monday]. The only real roadblock in Memphis is a customs clearance delay but you have apparently bypassed that.

Oh I would die to have that speed!

I ordered my Macbook Pro with Retina Display 2.6 Ghz, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD on August 1st. It changed from "Processing" to "Preparing for Shipment" today (the 5th) a couple hours ago. I am wondering how long this stage has lasted for people who already have their new Mac's. I got the expidited 2-3 business day shipping, and they estimate August 14-16. They took the money out of my account a day ago. I am thinking that I might get it quicker than anticipated if it is already on the next stage.

I've been following this thread extensively for the same reasons. If it is indeed preparing for shipping, and based on what i've derived from previous posts, you may get it this Wed, Thu, or Fri. with expedited delivery. Keep us posted.

Charging a CC isn't necessarily an indicator of shipment. My CC was initally charged a week before but the charge dropped off after several days because Apple had not reconciled the charge. It was charged again on the day after it shipped. On the other hand this may be the real deal based on what you've said.

I sure will keep you posted!

I did get the version that Apple recently expanded in the configuration settings. I am wondering if Apple stockpiled a bunch of differing configuration Macbook Pro Retinas before allowing the extra configuration options? If so, it would make sense that I would get it really soon.

I only see standard and expedited shipping as options through apple.com, and I would suspect the same is true through an apple rep. I think the only reason I received next day shipping was because they messed up my order.

What was the config? Guessing it was base 2.3/8/256 or 2.6/8/512? They seem to have those readily available at this point.

Yes it was base model. Can't afford anything else but wanted retina

Yeah but I doubt it will deliver because I live all the way in iowa. I'm doubting MacBook can travel that far without an extra stop. Could it go from Memphis to iowa in a day and a half?

Rural Iowa?

I honestly don't know how FedEx handles rural locations. If you said it departed Memphis yesterday, it's probably sitting in Des Moines right now.

Well that's good news. Does fedex just not scan packages on weekends or what's the deal?

I thought better of my earlier post that guessed at Wed, Thu, or Fri delivery. You can however, calculate a worst case delivery date.
A) IF FedEx picks up your package tomorrow, Monday Aug 6th, that is day zero, since none of the carriers count the pickup day as one of the three days.
B) Tuesday is day one
C) Wednesday is day two
D) Thursday is day three. And since expedited delivery is before 10:30AM, that makes Thursday a short third day.
This takes into account crossing time zones.

So worst case is Thursday by 10:30 AM for 3-day delivery.

This would be wonderful, that is IF "Preparing for Shipment" actually means tomorrow will be the day they ship it out.

Woohoo!

Yay! Just checked and my credit card was charged for my rMBP. The computer is still in the "processing item" stage on apple.com, but it looks like it's getting ready to ship! It's currently 8:30am or so in China, so I'm assuming it'll ship out sometime this evening CDT.

So all are aware: I ordered the 2.6GHz|16GB|256GB config on 8/1 around 7:00PM!

Keep you posted... :D

I have a theory that Apple stockpiled the custom configuration rMBPs. I got the same one you did, we might get ours around the same time this coming week.

Finally after waiting for more than 2 weeks my order changed from "Processing" to "Preparing for Shipment"!!

the status changed around 7:10PM CDT / 4:10AM GST (local time) / 8:10AM CST Shanghai (China)
I'm so excited :D

Ordered on 7/22 the rMBP 2.6,16,512 via Apple Online EDU store.

I don't know... They just released these new bto options. I doubt they'd have stockpiled the config we ordered. I think they're just finally catching up with demand/demand has decreased to where manufacturing can keep up.

I know when they released these new options, I cancelled my July 31st order and made a new one from 2.3 to 2.6 Ghz. With educational discount, an extra .3 Ghz for only $90 sounds like a deal.

Strange things are going on.. I made an order for a rMBP 2.6/16/512 on 31/07/12 and I've been watching the order page like a hawk for an update.

This morning I checked my bank account and there is an extra $3000 in there. I haven't received any communication from apple saying they've cancelled the order, but when I log into the apple website and look under my orders there is nothing there. I've been refunded it looks like.

However the direct link to the order that I bookmarked still shows my order as 'processing'.

If I try to view/edit the order, I'm prompted to log in and then receive the message:

Something went wrong with your request. Please try again later.
The signed in account does not have access to this order.

Very strange. I will call Apple on my lunch break and try to find out what has happened.

The only thing I can think of is that I ordered with an educational discount and I haven't ever before. I start my course in January and already have my acceptance letter so that shouldn't be an issue, but it's just strange the order has been cancelled (or at least refunded) without any sort of communcation/request for evidence.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I ordered via the studentVIP apple store portal setup for Australian students.

Please don't make me fall out of love with you Apple. :(

I had the same thought process as you.

However they managed to reduce the wait time, I'm glad we'll be getting our computers soon!

It wouldn't be because of your edu discount. Sounds fishy though... Call apple-I'm sure they'll figure it out. Cross your fingers that you didn't lose your spot in line

The plot thickens! Just got off of the phone to a very chirpy Apple employee on the phone who assures me my order has not been cancelled and is still due to arrive between the 9th and 16th.

Me: "So it definitely, definitely is still an open order?"
Appleman: *Laughs* Yes of course Sir, apologies for the confusion caused.

Very strange as there is definitely a $3100 payment from Apple in my account. I know there is a much higher chance that they've ballsed the order up and it won't get processed than them accidentally sending me a free laptop, but I'll keep my eye on the order status for the next few days and see what happens.

I don't mind waiting an extra week or two if there is a possibility of a 100% discount.

alright guys, mine just hit grand rapids, michigan. its about an hour from where i live. i hope it gets here tomorrow!!! the estimated is wednesday

Great news! Mine's currently on its way to Apple to merge with the gift voucher. Hopefully it should be delivered to me tomorrow.

Ok I've done some looking around and apparently it is normal for the money to appear back in the account before the item is shipped as Apple do a pre-charge authorisation check which debits the money the first time, but obviously this has an expiry time.

Anyways, mine changed to 'Preparing for Shipment' about an hour ago! So I'm guessing it should be here in time for the weekend.

So excited! :)apple:_:apple:)

Ordered a 2.3/16/256 retina on July 31st and it was just shipped this morning with an estimated delivery date of August 8th. I'm very excited! I'm upgrading from an old white MacBook.

Now the status on TNT says "Exception" and the delivery date as changed to 13th of August instead of 10h of August. If this happens Apple will get a very angry call.

Just called TNT and the package is still in China......

Absolutelly no evolution since the 3rd of August........

I guess Apple surelly doesn't need me as a customer. Will start looking for other options and cancel the order.

Arrived at my local Fedex facility in New York this morning about 40 minutes ago. Does anyone know if they will attempt a delivery today or wait till tomorrow?
