Perhaps, but luckily you're not forced to view the thread, so *happy dance* for you!

Our technological society's increasing impatience leads to people wanting to share their waiting pains with others who feel similarly. No harm, no foul. 🙂

Also, this thread is of some benefit for people considering ordering their machines online so that they can get some idea of what to expect.

Not forced, however it is handy to gauge whether lead time is improving (as I plan to make another order), which is in line with your last point. I didn't say the thread was useless.

However, seeing people knowing precisely where their MacBook Pro is located (and how long it has been there), watching it every step of the way and then displaying some sort of sadness because it hasn't arrived is pretty ridiculous.

I haven't checked my open order status once since ordering. It is going to arrive and I would rather do other things rather than worry or incessantly track an object.

I bet if you still hadn't gotten your 1st one yet like me then you'd be frustrated like am. And you wouldn't be saying

I have an LG screen, but I've been looking at what problems others are posting about their LG screens and I'm not having those problems. Perfect screen for me. Sucks to suck 😉

CONGRATULATIONS!! I so hope i have the same experience once my MacBook Pro Retina comes on Monday!
 
I've been offered a replacement MBP from the wonderful people at AppleCare but I don't know whether to go for a high end cMBP or a high end rMBP.

I appreciate that the people who have "problems" with their Retinas are probably, overall, a minority but I dunno whether I should just get a cMBP now and then wait until next year's update which will have better integrated graphics and a more consistent screen manufacturing process or just bite the bullet and get the Retina.

I probably have until Monday to decide, so tick tock for me 🙁

I'm looking at the brown box, thinking I must be dreaming...

So to reiterate, I ordered: 2.6Ghz, 16Gb Ram, 256Gb SSD.
Ordered 3rd August.
Delivered 17th August.

Well I'm typing on my beautiful new machine and wow the text looks absolutely amazing on Safari.
I've also got the LG screen and it looks just awesome...vivid and crystal clear.

Also, the 2.6Ghz is blazingly fast, especially when matched with SSD.

Hope the wait is not too much longer for you all!

But when it arrives, you will be beyond ecstatic.

Mine has been "Preparing for Shipment" since yesterday morning but I'm not sure if it'll ship today since it's Sunday and looking at the past Sundays in this forum, it doesn't look like anyone had it changed to shipped on sunday either. I'm guessing it'll change to 'Shipped' early tomorrow morning and hopefully be back at the end of the week.
 
2.6/16gb/256 ordered on 8/12, arrived in Memphis last night around 11:40 pm Central time. It's expected delivery date is 8/22, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's out for delivery Monday morning. I got upgraded to free expedited shipping.
