Are physical apple stores selling them right now or at least with a more reasonable waiting time?

I need a Built-to-order 16 GB 2.3 Ghz Retina MBP, but I need it sometime in July.
I'm moving to Japan in August and I need to migrate my iMac before August.

And I don't want a Macbook Pro with a Japanese keyboard!

What are the chances that shipping estimates return to at least 2-3 wks in the next few days?

Suggestions and advices will be appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

I would suggest to call some apple stores near you and ask if they have some units... I think you will have better chances to get a macbook pro sooner!

I just said that I want to upgrade to overnight and guy said that he is sorry but they are shipping from CN, so overnight is impossible, but that he will upgrade me to "Business" for free.

So your package will have a bed in the plane? Great!

If you get in the queue now you will be sure that you get your MacBook even before people who order after a 2-3 week change. And if you find it in a store you can always cancel your order if it has not shipped yet.

for those who called apple and got their shipping bumped up sooner for free... how did you do it? just asked? or had a reason to tell them?

I complained about the giftcard glitch, a friend complained about the weird credit card authorization, etc. You can say just about anything, just ask nicely if there is any way they could bump you up to the expedited shipping option for your troubles.

They'd probably do it if you just call in to ask about the shipping delay, say that you saw on the keynote that they were shipping today and you're pretty disappointed at the long wait time.

I got mine upgraded, but they let me know it was going to be $19 more. I agreed even after prodding about if everyone was getting free upgrades or not and he said that's the price they have to charge for expedited/business. Could be because I'm in Canada though.

Thank you in advance,

Apple stores are selling the two basic configs and eventually the maxed out "Ultimate". Yesterday there were reports of big shipments arriving at some stores. No stores have had Ultimates in stock and the people that ordered Ultimates with the 768GB drive had estimates automatically go to 2-3 or 3-4 weeks even if they ordered right when the store opened.

That means that instead of 5-7 it will take 2-3 days.

Do people REALLY need 16GB of RAM? And the 2.7GHz processor? For RAM, if you're a programmer who blows through gigabytes of data or you're a professional movie editor or something, I can understand the need for 16GB. I'm an amateur photographer and I use Aperture and perhaps PS. I may make a home movie or two using iMovie. I can't see myself needing 16GB of RAM ever....

And for the processor, that isn't the slow part of the system. You'd see much more of an effect by upgrading RAM than the processor. Is there any reason to buy the upgraded processor?

I agree with you on the processor, for 100$ i would of got the better one but the performance difference is not worth the 250$ + tax that it would cost.

For ram not so sure, for me with just with normal stuff i can blow through 8GB easily, not talking pro apps, just normal day to day computer use i can go over 8GB fairly consistently.

I like to have stuff stay open and use a lot of mission control stuff and keep many tabs open on multiple browsers

Just placed my order a few hours ago.

Feels bad man...

Yes, you certainly could, but you haven't...

Apparently people in Santa Monica are all waiting for their max spec rMBPs. What's wrong with bringing those to Chicago instead?

MacMall in Chicago, Illinois has 10 2.3GHz base model retina MacBook Pros in stock as of this morning.

Just got my RMBP! Was preparing to ship Tuesday and finally left China yesterday and arrived at my house about 24 hours later. I was in the 7-10 day group with estimated delivery of June 25-28. When I got my Fedex tracking info it said delivery by June 22 but they beat that by a day!

At least you'll get it before school starts! :D

True, but I already arranged (via craigslist) to sell my iMac this weekend. I want to offload it before a potential refresh occurs. I feel like a quiet iMac refresh is right around the corner, perhaps the day Mountain Lion launches.

Looks like I'll be roughing it with just the iPad for about a month... :(

I called and complained about all of the people getting free shipping when I paid for it so they refunded my shipping cost. I suggest anyone else that paid for it to do the same.

Hey people, need help about billing. When I ordered the rMBP Apple 'reserved' the funds in my bank account. So basically when I checked my amount, the money for the mac had been deducted. I checked today and the money is back in the account, but the order still stands anyway. Is this what has happened to others? Were they just checking that the money was available and will charge me at dispatch?

That's completely normal. They did this 2 or 3 times with my order.

I know, but if you have been watching this forum you will see that people are receiving their orders anywhere from 5 days early to a couple days after the initial predicted date. I just wanted to see if we could get an actual predicted date based on the data rather then the 7 day window cop-out that they have listed.

We could just start using the average time between "order placed" and "delivered" as our estimate. Other, more complex formulas can be thought of.

Unfortunately, the people who received their toys are less likely to keep following this thread and even less likely to bother with the spreadsheet. So we will collect more of the first half of the data and not a significant amount of delivery dates. Especially since some orders were delivered back in the ancient times we'd like to call "last week"

Anyone in the 02/07/2012 - 13/07/2012 group?

I waiting almost 2 weeks now for it to be shipped and its still processing the items. Ordered it 3 hours after the store went back online on the 11th.

My rMBP arrived, so I think I can give some info for what those waiting in Germany (and maybe some neighboring countries) can expect once their rMBP is shipped.

My order was shipped last Saturday (the actual flight left Shanghai early Sunday morning CEST). It flew from Shanghai to Frankfurt and was then transported to Prague. That took until Tuesday afternoon CEST, so four days altogether. Up intil that point, Apple didn't give any tracking information.

UPS transported the rMBP the rest of the way. By the way, my gift card (from the promo) was shipped in a separate package, also by UPS. They received it on Wednesday (about 24 hours after it arrived in Prague) and shipped it today (Thursday). That's the speed you can expect, luckily (in my case) not complicated by weekends. I received tracking info only on Wednesday evening, so I had little chance to track. (But some Macrumors forum users provided a link to an helpful tracking site for the flight from Shanghai to Frankfurt to Prague, I have already forgotten its name, though.)

Apple beat their own estimate for the shipping date by four days, I can't complain.
