First time poster, long time lurker. Hi

This is also a charge on my card. Is this normal?

Also, I don't have a hold placed on my Barclaycard for the price of the rMBP . . . should there be one? I rarely use the card and haven't kept up with the charges since I placed the order.

I read that they charge you $100 for the gift card but they take $100 off the final price when they charge your computer when it ships. I guess this is a safe measure for them incase you receive the gift card and cancel the laptop. So basically my laptop cost total is $2400 and they will charge me $100 for the gift card and $2300 for the laptop on my credit card..

They charge you when they ship the laptop.

It is why. The Thunderbolt GigE adapter comes in the black paper accessory pouch inside the rMBP’s box when ordered as an option on apple.com.

Oh...

I really should have ordered that separate boy do I feel silly!

More or less correct... I chose the option to pick up my gift card and was charged the $100 for it when I arrived at the Apple Store the next day (12th). Then they just charged the remaining $2079 tonight. So, yes - basically it's more like "buy a $100 gift card and we'll take $100 off your computer," more than "get a free $100 gift card with your $2179 computer."

Cool, exact same spec as me, mine changed around noon PST today but I was 7-10 days so just before you. Also my estimated delivery is June 27th to July 3 so you should get yours well before your initial estimate We should be on the same plane out of Shanghai tonight and I will have one extra flight (Vancouver to Whitehorse) to deal with!! Get ready to start plane tracking.

I ordered within the first half hour of the "2-3 week" shipment estimate window, soon after it changed from 7-10. I guess the later 6/11 orders will start getting prepared soon. There is hope!

LOL, if a factory is a month behind anywhere, let alone china, you are going to have people working on Saturday. The question you really want to ask is if people get overtime.
