I can believe that.

I am going to see if they will apply the trade in, back to my CC as the chat person mentioned.

If not, like I said, I will be using the gift card to get Apple Care, a polishing cloth o_O and whatever else catches my eye. You always have time to look, as they don't always get right to you.

I noticed that if I chose to pay in full it would only give me the option to mail in the trade in. When I changed it to use my Apple Card with 12 monthly payments, it auto-applies the trade in and gives the option to trade in at the store during pickup. That's the route I went.

Thanks!

I just did this. Now I'm not at the mercy of Phobio.

Good looking out! I just cancelled my original order and re-ordered this way, opting to "bring [...] in" my old Mac. Don't wanna roll the dice with Phobio.

Did this, didn’t want to Risk it at all

Just did the same.

Cancelled original order, reordered using the 12 month plan.

Will just pay it off vs doing the payments. Anything to avoid Phobio.

I could’ve ordered these with 0 stress, every model is still available by me, in ever store, and I’m in NY no less lmao, going to pickup my machine at 12

In the UK Apple Stores, can't find a configuration to pick up for the 16" models but the 14" is available in Bristol but only the base configuration, 8 core 16Gb. A mid range 16" is available in London, but not with 32Gb RAM.

Are there issues with doing the phobio trade in?

I snagged a 16 M1 max for pickup in a bit, but opted to mail the trade in as I want to compare my workflow benchmarks on my old machine. A lot of people seem to keep saying this about ‘avoiding phobio’ and has me nervous ?

My local stores in mass just had low end or a few super high end. Nothing really configured in the middle at all.

Phobio is famous for saying the perfectly fine device you sent in was destroyed, broken screen, dented, etc so the trade in value is now $0.

Some have reported that when they asked for the device back, the Serial didn't match. So either they are hugely disorganized or something fishy is going on.

My experience in case it helps someone else:

  • Purchased new MacBook online, paid full price, paid with Apple Card for in store pickup this morning
  • Did not put in for trade in at time of purchase
  • Took my 2019 MacBook Pro with me to pick up the new device
  • Told the store rep that I wanted to trade in my old MacBook for credit towards my purchase
  • They took all the information from the old MacBook and when it came time to do the refund to my Apple Card, they could not put the credit on my Apple Card (maybe because I paid in full, not sure)
  • She said I could put the credit on my debit card, which I said was ok
  • She had to get a manager to approve that credit to my debit card
  • Credit applied to my debit card and left with my brand new 14"

Hope this helps someone!

Too many negative reactions to Phobio. Don't do it.

Where are people seeing M1 Max in Store? Saying no in store pickup for any Max config in NY area.

Did anyone find a M1 Max/32GB/2TB config?

My local store has the BTO order I want in stock. Just canceled my pre-order and did a store pickup for today.
Successful pickup; however, one of the corners has a small, but deep scratch as if it rubbed against something while in transit. Rubbed all the way through the finish. I’m hopping on a flight and can’t deal with it until I get back.

My local in NY got tons of the other configs but like 3 max configs and they sold out in 2 hours

Does anyone know if you miss your pick up time if they would just cancel your order? Just paranoid and excited ?

Just bought my completely unnecessary 14in MBP 16gbRAM at the Legacy Place Apple Store outside of Boston. Got sprung from jury duty and had some time to kill. LOL

I seem to buy a lot of MacBooks I don’t really need. the 12in MacBook. The 13in tbMBP. The 2020 M1 last year.

Apple sure does make it easy these days. The ERAASE ALL DATA AND SETTINGS menu in Monterey. 30min to transfer from my old MBP to the new one.

Guy at the Apple Store said I was their 1st sale of the day on the 14inMBP.

I’ll take it for a spin and give my review. So far-the screen looks HUGE. The notch is noticeable but I’m sure it will “disappear”. It feels solid as hell. I’ll be traveling this week for work, and am eager to see if the 0.5 pound weight gain will be noticeable

Just picked up and unboxed a 16". Perfect so far except for weird square blemishes on the keyboard deck that won't rub off. Shrugs

I think a lot of people in the area default to South Shore Plaza, Boylston, or Providence Place if they're more south. I know that store is usually busy phone launch days and once holiday ramps up but other than that usually it's great for securing Macs and iPads.
