For those who are trading in their Macs in store today: please remember to turn off Find My Mac! When a store rep enters your serial number, it checks to see if Find My is off. If it’s not, it won’t move forward with the trade in until it’s turned off. Be sure to do it at home so you don’t waste extra time at the store.
Should I upgrade to new Mac OS beforehand?

Had that option too. But the sane part of me took over and got the 14 with 2tb. Makes more sense to me anyways to get more portable and same performance.
I took that option too, but how do we know if people in store aren't taking the one we just pre-ordered? Lol.

Online chat.

Trying to get thru to the store has never been a winning proposition. On a launch day even worse.

Since it's something I've already done, I feel confident that chat wasn't blowing smoke. Only how the trade in is applied, will be the ultimate question.
My online chat person said has to be mail to get it applied to the purchase price.

I'm doing a trade-in for an in-store pickup today. The online order said they were sending me a Phobio box. I'm wondering if the Apple Store will let me do the trade-in when I go to pick it up instead of the mail-in?

I suppose I could bring the trade-in with me just in case. Anyone ever do it this way?

I can believe that.

I am going to see if they will apply the trade in, back to my CC as the chat person mentioned.

If not, like I said, I will be using the gift card to get Apple Care, a polishing cloth o_O and whatever else catches my eye. You always have time to look, as they don't always get right to you.

I noticed that if I chose to pay in full it would only give me the option to mail in the trade in. When I changed it to use my Apple Card with 12 monthly payments, it auto-applies the trade in and gives the option to trade in at the store during pickup. That's the route I went.

Got an M1 Max 64GB 4TB for in-store-pickup as well. Would have rather gotten 2TB but waiting until Dec 16... Apple got me too! Seems like they either sell in store base models or very-high-end models, but not much in-between. Makes sense.

It was hard to pass up. And I mean heck it wont be obsolete for 2 years when the M2 comes out with 100 cores. :)

Thanks!

I just did this. Now I'm not at the mercy of Phobio.

I was happy to have the mail back option now I can have both machines side by side and really be sure I have everything I want then mail it back.

All instructions that I've seen allows you to bring your trade-in to be done in-store. My MBP is being delivered today, and I just made an appointment to bring in my trade-in over the weekend and was told that it would take a few minutes to inspect and then the trade-in amount will be applied to card used for purchase.

Good looking out! I just cancelled my original order and re-ordered this way, opting to "bring [...] in" my old Mac. Don't wanna roll the dice with Phobio.

I originally ordered 16" Max with 32Gb/1TB, but looking at my local store, they also have 14" Max with 64GB/2TB, at only around $800 CAD more so might go with the 14"

I had a 16” Pro 1TB/32GB on order, but decided to go with the 16” Max 1TB/32GB as I can pick it up today.

Your upsale balances my downsale. I preordered a 14" 1tb, settled for 512gb base because it's available now.
