As I've mentioned. I've gone thru that. They took my product & gave me a gift card.
They will still send the box for the product, but you are told to ignore it. It's followed by an email saying you didn't send the box or product back, but if you already traded it in, you can ignore the email.
That's an excellent option if one has time travel & the gift of 20 / 20 foresight.My store wouldn’t allow in store trade in for online orders, they say you have to mail it in. It depends on store and market I think.
What I did was go in yesterday and do the trade in for a gift card, then used the gift card today.
Where do you live“. Who needs an 8tb machine8TB is no longer available at my local store someone got it!
They didn't take my cable or adapter. Just the laptop. No box.When you trade in do you need unit and cord and that’s it? Or old box? Haven’t traded in at store before.
Box no.When you trade in do you need unit and cord and that’s it? Or old box? Haven’t traded in at store before.
There’s a chance, if the stock level is yellow (less than 5), it won’t show as in stock onlineDo stores still have some configs that don't show up online for pick-up - ie reserved for walk ins ? My local one doesn't show any 16" Max configs for pickup but I may go for a walk to check.
I want to say they dont require anything. Technically when shopping the online store they have you "verify" by accepting the terms and conditions that you qualify for educational.Just joined. Picking up a config that's too much for me but I don't want to wait until mid December for a 32GB 14".

I used education discount, do we have to prove anything about the education on pickup? IT's already paid for anyway, picking it up in 2 hours.
@quagmire
I was told to bring in the "old" laptop, they will let me trade in there.
If it isn't applied to the purchase, they can credit the card being used.
?
I'll just be getting another empty box from Apple that Fed Ex delivers. ?
Thanks!I want to say they dont require anything. Technically when shopping the online store they have you "verify" by accepting the terms and conditions that you qualify for educational.
Yeah, I Yolo'd this one too. I never owned a mac before either. I'm hoping the m1 max with 64GB RAM can do some work in Unity (3d). I see a lot of M1 users doing Unity for iOS games. I'm hoping it has the oomph, I'm just a VS Code developer right now. I will get into XCODE but I'm hoping it can handle Unity 3D (not AAA titles but just my own VR games if I want to work on them).So what I thought would happen happened. I had a Dec 19th 24 core max with 64 G Ram and 2 TB hard drive on order. I could have went down or up to get it today so I now have a 32 core max with 4 TB hard drive and 64 g ram. So extra grand. Ahh well you only live once. Apple got me.
Got an M1 Max 64GB 4TB for in-store-pickup as well. Would have rather gotten 2TB but waiting until Dec 16... Apple got me too! Seems like they either sell in store base models or very-high-end models, but not much in-between. Makes sense.
