I think in-store pickup orders went live for them a little bit before 6AM local time. I'm seeing stock in a ton of stores, don't know if it's necessary all of Australia though
Hoping that there are different BTO configs available. If I’m doing my math right there should be more launch days for those to the west of Australia before getting to PST time zone?

Is it possible that the BTO custom configs stocked in-store are region dependent? Yes. Do I think it's likely? No. You are correct in that there are additional countries which will have their launch before the U.S., though.

I want to thank everyone for sharing all the info so far. I too plan to get up early and order for local pickup in the US tomorrow. Very excited for the switch!

Thanks everyone! If I'm ordering in education store, what's the best method? Have the item in my cart and refresh to see if the option for "pick up at store" becomes available?

If you select in store pick up do you have to pay online as well or is it pay in store when you go to PU? I'm trying to get a MBP and trade in my current MacBook along with using education discount, but would rather settle that all out in store.

You can settle that all online, I believe they will send you a box. I'm hoping for same-day delivery as well, I think they work with contracted drivers

If you’re trying to trade in towards your purchase - you’re going to have to do that in the store and wont be able to buy online. You pay for the other for pickup

With Apple Watch Series 7, in California I was able to order for store pickup at 5:30am on launch day, but there were only a few left. So I assume the store updated at 5:00am Pacific.

Weird, I'm in SoCal and tried this right at 5 a.m. on 10/15/21 but I have NEVER seen stock show up since... I don't obsess but I've checked back periodically and here in SoCal they have not offered the instore pick up option. Sucks.

I have a MBP being delivered tomorrow but I didn't get the faster charger so I'm tempted to try this out tmrw morning.

Are you saying if you buy online with in store pickup, you cannot trade in during that pickup transaction and you have to wait for Apple to send you a trade in kit?

I’m pretty sure when I bought my iPad Pro, I chose the pick up in store option and they just adjusted the price and tax for the trade in of my old iPad when I got there. That would really suck if the only way to do a trade in is to buy in-store without being able to reserve your purchase online. Especially with quantities so limited.

There are two options

get a trade in kit

or trade in the store

they won’t discount your price because you say you have a trade in On the app.

Oh yes I see what your saying.

Yeah the sale price is unchanged until the trade in is actually received (in store or online).

Actually, if you do the Apple Card installments, your trade in credit is subtracted from the price (even with in store pickup). You only owe the tax at the time of purchase. Then they give you 14 days to return your trade in device.

I'll be checking online for a 16" Pro Space Gray w/ 32GB and 1TB SSD, but I'm fully expecting I'll be waiting until mid-November.

Tim
I would love a 32gb ram option in store. The stock configurations are all 16gb except for the 3500 option.

In Australia Today is launch day and the online store showed stock availability of all stock configurations @5.30am with in-store pick up today. Plus an additional configuration of M1Max with 64GB +4TB storage If I could only afford it...
Any 32gb options?

You can trade in, in store. You have to be careful as there are two options, mail in or trade in physically. It's easy to miss that the site will say you are sending it in. For my iPhone I ordered it that morning saying I was trading in my old phone. I must have missed the option for trading in store, as when I got there the Apple specialist said I was sending my trade in to Apple. They let me trade my phone in, but I had take the trade in as a gift card, which I did intending to use it for a future ( like a new Macbook ) purchase.

Even after trading it in, getting the gift card, Apple still send a box & sent emails asking when I was sending my phone in.

So you can trade in physically, but if they are expecting your trade in at Apple, they will NOT apply it to your current purchase. They will offer to give you the trade in on a gift card, or you can wait for the box to come to your house. You have to make sure that option to trade in at the store is checked.

Best Buy is showing the 16gb 1tb 14 inch M1 Pro as available for pickup on Tuesday. I pre ordered just now so we’ll see if it’s actually available. If my local Apple store has in store stock on Tuesday then I’ll probably go that route, trade in my 2019 Pro at Apple, and cancel the BB order.
How is the trade in experience with a Mac? I am considering doing the trade in option for my order That will be placed tomorrow morning And hopefully available to pick up the same day.

In 24 hours I will be in line!
Prior to going in line, check the site to see if your store has the model that you want. I have been lucky for the past couple of years when a product is launched. I order the day it is release online and pick up the same day. I believe the inventory is usually updated at 5am PST. There have been threads in the past that also state the same information regarding inventory.

This happened to me as well but they took my iPhone and I didn’t receive a follow up email from apple.

Hopefully same as an iPhone trade in. I’m going to check Apple Store stock in the morning and do a trade in at Apple if they have stock. My Best Buy order states it will be ready for pickup tomorrow

I got royally ****ed in the arse by Apple.... Ordered pickup only to get a call back from the Apple Store during the MIDDLE OF DRIVING to tell me that there was a "glitch" in the system and that I can't pickup my order and I have place a new order.

Sure no problem I guess, I cancel my order immediately to place a new order, only to find out that all the M1 Max is OUT OF STOCK for pick up and the earliest delivery is December..... Excuse my french but are you f**king kidding me. Never felt so disappointed and angry at Apple in a long time. ?

Does anyone know if the M1 Max will have more stock for pickup on the 2nd launch day (tomorrow) or do I actually have to wait until December for delivery now?

There used to be a couple of sites that kept track of stock at a given Apple store.. Do they still exist? I know there definitely was one for the iPhone, especially when the iPhone 6 and 6s came out. Is there similar that keeps stock of Macs?

BL.

I'm mock-ordering a 13" MBP for in-store pickup with trade-in just to familiarize myself with the process before tomorrow morning. It looks like a trade-in kit will be sent upon pickup at the store; I don't actually see an option to specify an in-store trade-in (which I'd prefer). I just asked Apple via chat and got no clear answers. Am I missing something? It would seem strange that the Apple Store Online and App will let you order a new Mac for in-store pickup, but NOT let you opt to complete your trade in-store as well.
