Nope, that was the iSight camera on all Macs until they put it in the display.

I would love a new iSight. Ultra wide with center stage. Wireless connection. 4k60.

Apple laptop cameras have been borderline unusable for years. Hopefully the new ones will be good enough but if not I’ll look into those apps that let you use another camera as a webcam again.

It's simple really. If Monterey doesn't have any code to accommodate the notch, like significantly increased padding to move app menubar items, there won't be a notch.

While some people talk about how terrible the notch supposedly is, others simply buy an iPhone and are very happy with it.
And other people who've complained about the notch have ended up buying Android phones without a notch, and are very happy with them.

A notch on a MacBook Pro is definitely not a welcome addition. My M1 MacBook will have a better resale value for sure. MagSafe and all of the ports shouldn’t have ever left the MacBook before it became dongle central.
@TheYayAreaLiving Google AND Samsung both have events and of course we don’t care. We have one this Monday! :)

I, for one, welcome our new notch overlords

If it takes a section of the menu bar it may not be such a big deal, but it will definitely be a nuisance for full screen applications, though.

Seems kind of idiotic, adding the notch just to get rid of the rest of the bezel. Couldn’t it be apple’s trying to identify leakers?

That's going to trigger a lot of people, especially if FaceID isn't there.

Instead of looking at it as suddenly having more viewable landscape, they will fixate on 'the notch'. I hardly notice it on the iPhone anymore. What O would notice a whole lot more would be a small dot that was staring back at me. *shrug*

If there's a notch, no face ID, and the touchbar is still there, it's a pass. Apple can put a quantum CPU in there and make the laptop out of adamantium. If I have to go through multiple steps to access routine functions (volume, brightness, F keys), and the screen interferes w/ existing apps with a top-center action (ie MS Office), why bother upgrading? My workflow will suffer just so that I could rock a new slightly faster laptop? Please.
