They should rather call DxO for help them because what you're inferring are (a bunch of) optical corrections; something for which DxO is known for.
Have a look at Nvidia Broadcast, it's all there, for both audio and video. It's the perfect conference solution.

Monterey beta added a feature to always show the menu bar even in full screen apps. Hmmmmm.

which is a sweet feature regardless of notch or not, I like using full screen apps to have “workspaces” but miss having the menu bar always shown.

yes. and its also easier to switch one current side with another app I believe in Monterey which is what was desperately needed in big sur.

Don‘t notice the notch on the iPhone, won‘t notice it here. Also there will be a good reason for this, e.g. a better camera than would otherwise be possible.

That space is for the menu bar. Of course you will notice.

Right. Which tells you that Apple adding a notch to the MBP is pure B.S.
Does it? If the notch is on the menu bar, always showing the menu bar is advantageous as it never covers app content.

I’m still slightly sceptical though because of the 74px being too tall for the menu bar. Unless some of the extra vertical space comes from removing the MBP etching? It wouldn’t be “perfect” 16:10 screen sans-notch though.

No, it would be exact opposite of what you claim. A full screen would be same 16:10 screen ratio as before, but the permanent menu bar would be in the extra vertical 74 pixels above that, and that is where the notch would be located.

The problem with that theory though, as I've mentioned before and as @virulent says above, is that 74 pixels is about 7.3 mm, which is too tall for a traditional macOS menu bar.

Easily rectified by just making the menu bar taller on these machines

FaceID would be great on a Mac, but a notch? Really? How’s that practical with the desktop UI as we know it today?

Feels like one big leap based on a small bit of information. Or a troll/experiment to see just how many people will somehow convince themselves this is a good idea.

Defeats the purpose of being able to run apps full screen.

But hey, if Apple wants to do this, let them. They'll paddle back in a couple of years as the recently did with butterfly keyboard, connectors, thinness, touch bar, etc.

I mean, Apple is clearly willing to cut out a portion of the center of the UI. Look at any recent iPhone. Why wouldn't they do that on the Mac?
Because phones are considerably smaller than Macs so screen space is of a premium in ways that it isn't on the Mac. Additionally, phones do not have a menu bar that can stretch across the screen; at most the notch meant that the time, which isn't a clickable item, isn't displayed in the status bar.

People said the same thing about the iPhone notch and yet it is still going

All of that ugliness for a 1080p camera?
Show me a modern or past video conference hardware / software for consumer or corporate use that properly and effectively records and distributes at higher than 1080p resolution, that properly scales other connections to the same audio/video conference that cannot support higher than 1080p (as in autos calling down to 1080/720/480p resolution), without ANY degradation of audio quality from all participants say more than 4 ppl talking simultaneously, and that supports people and content!

Polycom 9600/8600hdx, Tandberg/Cisco units, MS Teams (terrible joke for this btw), Zoom, Cisco Jabber, Skype/Skype for Business, etc ALL cannot. Don’t even try to bring up Logi either.

again that supports everything I’ve mentioned above. Resolution isn’t an eye sore it’s the quality and clarity of the image/video/sound/features and finally ease of use that’s critical here. You’re focusing on the wrong thing without even considering all the above scenario. Oh yeah there is also encryption to consider.

You're using it wrong! You have to unleash yourself! Just become a sheep, it's all good then. 😂

Which sucks for application menu bars that stretch across the screen.
Not necessarily. You could have a constant menu bar there all the time, and then if you’re in an app that has more options, when you move your mouse up there it pops downward.
And then once you do whatever you wanted to do in the menu bar, when you move your mouse away, it shrinks right back into the notch sides.

I’m shocked and surprised Apple would add a notch on a Mac. I thought Apple was in a process of eliminating it on an iPhone now they are implementing it with Mac? Where is Jony Ive? Oh wait, he’s moved on to bigger and better things.

Wait till what type of a design Ferrari comes out with next!
🤢🤮😡🤦‍♂️

How many people are looking at their iPhone screens 8 to 12 hours every day? Massive difference. You're argument has been made for the thinness, connectors, touch bar, the trashcan and other things and yet Apple paddled back.
