In Monterey, the menu bar is able to be present even in full screen mode, so even less of an issueIt's in the middle of the menubar, who cares. Only a problem if you're in fullscreen a lot, which I'm not.

The notch doesn't bother me on the phone and here it really wouldn't bother me if I didn't have apps with menu items bars that stretch across the screen. It also depends on how the cursor interacts with the notch.Someone help me understand the anti-notch fury here. Isn't the alternative a physically larger screen with bezels, to avoid a notch? I personally do not even notice it on my phone, doubt I will notice it on my laptop.
Nope, dead serious. But then again, I’m not a fanboy of anything and buy hardware in 6 to 7-figure range every year for my research group to get the job done, no matter how. So my use case might be very different from the end user sitting at home browsing the web and playing Minecraft every now and then. You’re joking, right?
I feel like I’ve been saying that a lot lately.
Some people just really dislike the notch but aren't sure why.Someone help me understand the anti-notch fury here. Isn't the alternative a physically larger screen with bezels, to avoid a notch? I personally do not even notice it on my phone, doubt I will notice it on my laptop.
If only hardware were readily available…I know you're full of yourself based on posts earlier today, but geez man. That's two extremes. Plenty of people besides you do work on the hardware.
I don't mind the notch on the phone which holds non-interactive status info, but I really don't understand how this will work on a Mac with a mouse/touchpad as the input device. All options seem bad to me.
- Will cursor movement instantly snap from one side of the notch to the other, like a multiple monitor setup?
- Will you be unable to move the cursor into the notch area?
- Will your mouse cursor and any rendered contents disappear directly into the notch void? 🤢
- Will the menu bar be rendered 74 pixels lower than the notch area, in which point, what *was* the point?
Because the iPad Pro is considerably thicker than the screen of a MacBook Pro which likely helps make that possible. One thought: if they can implement Face ID on an iPad Pro without a notch and with pretty thin bezels, why would they add the notch on the Mac?

I like to think I'm a tech minded person, and I really don't mind the notch on the phone. In fact, it's a nice divider between the different types of information in that top bar/a nice visualization of where to swipe for the different interactions. When I upgraded my wife’s phone to the 13 max from the 12 max, I mentioned that the notch was smaller. She had no idea what I was on about. She never noticed it. Only tech minded people actually care. Anyone else don’t bother. 120 hz and more screens however is something people want to see.
Shiny and new will at first be shiny and new, that’s rightnot only the, MR folks will be BRAGGING about these MacBooks ...
