I don’t really see the notch on my iphone. If you see the pixels to the right and left to it as ‘extra pixels’ it becomes a nice addition to have extra functionality on top of your 16:10 screen.

I for one hope this rumor is true.

I hate ugly chins or foreheads on phones with a passion.

Since I will be in clamshell mode 99% of the time, I am really hoping they announce the mac mini pro too 'Notcheraleee.

The super fans never stop making excuses. If you think that a notch on any device is better than not having a notch, I've got a number you can call to get the help you need.

If the mini pro has as many GPUs as the 16". then I think my decision will be made. I only have to go between two locations right now. And the new mini is supposed to be apple tv size...

Ok so they inverted the leaked REvil blueprints and superimposed it over a laptop screen. I’m sure you guys can see it’s an exact match. Just pointing it out...

The post from yesterday suggests that the regular 16:10 aspect ratio could be achieved with all the pixels BELOW the notch. Which means that the notch and the pixels to the right/left of it could just be used for the menu bar. So when you "full screen" something, it will not use the pixels to the right/left of the notch and it will not affect what you're viewing.

This is the only scenario in which I'd be OK with the notch, but it seems like it is the case.

Don‘t notice the notch on the iPhone, won‘t notice it here. Also there will be a good reason for this, e.g. a better camera than would otherwise be possible.
Why would that enable a better camera? Apple can put any quality camera in, just don't wrap the display up around the lens & sensors!

I do think it’s real. It’s typical Apple marketing. Just like the reorganised camera setup on the back of iPhones from year to year, it’s a sure sign that you’ve got the new model.

That being the case, wouldn't the next iMac give you more functionality? Why accept laptop compromises just to dock it?

Yes.

But. I don't want to wait till march or april of next year since I have a 500$ credit from apple that expires dec 31 from the dev Arm machine I bought from them earlier.

really hoping for a mini pro announce too. would go that route.
