1366x768 screen , Ethernet port and 5400 RPM HDD all the way!

Don't worry I will upgrade the harddrive with an SSD Hard-drive and I will get an HD Display to have a real PRO usage, not that piece of garbage that Apple has created with an emoji toolbar hahahahaha.

Have to say for how much they jacked up the prices on the new MBP's im rather unimpressed

No one is worried, except for you. I can't imagine how insecure you must feel to have to come to an Apple-related message board to gloat about buying a $599 Acer.

Are there any Bluetooth headphones that NEVER need charging? And I really mean never. It's a rhetorical question, which is why I will be sticking with a wired connection. I just works! Isn't that one of Apple's marketing slogans?
[doublepost=1477613217][/doublepost]

You missed the bit about not needing to charge headphones ...;)

Yah I was kinda joking. I mean I agree, it can be a problem for some people not being able to charge and listen to wired at the same time without crazy adapters. and yes charging bluetooth headphones is a pain, it's the reason why I dont have a smart-watch. So, I'm not really sure what the perfect solution is until battery technology improves dramatically. I mean either way there is a slight inconvenience for someone. Either having to use an adapter, having to charge your headphones, or having to use a wire.

I sincerely thank you for your envious and condescending post, it's always a pleasure to be the recipient of such jealous indignation.

I think at last count my post had received over 50 likes so it certainly hit a cord with many Apple fans … not bad for as you said “the poor and clichéd quality of your whinge”.

Well said sir and keep up the great work reviewing other people’s posts. I look forward to reading your own original 50+ liked post.

As I said, your post is at the top I'm not saying there are not 50 or 100 trolls within the tens of thousands of users who use this site, you have proved my point where instead of answering any point I made with some reasoning you point to the little like button as if that settles it. I am amused that you use the words, 'envious' and 'jealous', because it doesn't even make sense. Of what is it that I am 'jealous' and 'envious' of, your like? your ability to write such an insightful piece? 50 likes, eh, you really need to get the page printed out and framed.

Why not explain how use of the headphone port on a phone should translate to leaving it out on a MacBook Pro? Are you saying the MBP should have a lightning port? They have the space on the MBP and the MBP has other devices that can connect through the analog jack that would be useless on the iphone. See if you can give some solid reasoning for leaving it out, or conversely do you think it should have stayed on the iphone. You don't really explain, you just make disparaging cheap comments.

Some people have far too much of a personal emotional investment in the purchases made by strangers

Here's what you can do: Anker has always been selling a five port USB charger. Now they sell a five port USB charger including one USB-C port. Get one of those, and you can charge your new MacBook, plus your phone, plus another three devices, all at the same time.

Yep, spend more to make your 2500$ macbook pro functional

It isn't a dongle. It's a USB-C to Lightning cable, just like the USB-A to Lightning Cable, but with a USB-C connector.

Remember when Apple introduced the USB-A-equipped iMac in 1998, there were virtually no USB accessories, and Apple didn't even provide adapters for older peripherals. USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 are different in that they are backward compatible while bringing faster charging and in the case of Thunderbolt 3 more speed.

and i am sure the three people who used them in 1998 were really upset.

How disappointing. I can see Dell XPS and Microsoft Surface factories being VERY busy over the next few months.......

They could have given a simple FHD to the Air along with Kaby Lake options, or even Skylake Options, and they would have flown off the shelves. Would not have even needed to raise the price, because their production costs would barely have changed. FHD screens are now cheap.

Had they gone with QHD and Kaby Lake for the Air, they could have charge $100 more, and still come in under the 13" MBP basic price of $1499.

This is pathetic.

All I wanted was an FHD (which is sufficient for a 13" resolution - 170ppi ) and a Skylake for the MBA.

They are out of their minds. HP & Dell will wipe up with floor with them

Add to that the soldered RAM.

Mind you, I do not even like the pricing for the Surface Pro nor the Surface Studio which are ridiculous.

But HP and Dell (especially HP) are putting out some premium stuff

The HP Envy 13t (the new model, not last year) is premium, amazing, and runs MBP into the ground for hundreds less. (CLICK HERE).

Kaby Lake. Better Resolution I7 Who cares if the RAM is only 1600Mhz For 91$ you can buy 1866 MHz and replace the UNSOLDERED RAM yourself.

I know mate :)

It's inconvenient alright to the point that I won't be getting another iPhone. It's a shame because over the past month Apple have pretty much made it not worth my while to continue with their hardware. PC's have the spec I want at a lower price. The apps I use still run the same. The One Plus 3 phone looks great, gets good reviews and is half the price of the iPhone.

This is absolute crap!!!!

Apple removes the 3.5mm jack from the iPhone 7 forcing the use of wireless or the Lightning port connected headphones (or the use of some stupid Lighting to 3.5mm converter)....

This is fair comment. This was the first question I had when I heard about the new MBP today. I'm ready to replace my 2011 MBA and was excited for this MBP, but this is giving me serious pause. Do I buy now only to have this obvious problem corrected a year from now? I can't justify this kind of money again next year for the sole purpose of port compatibility. This is ridiculous.

Yah it's great to have options. It all comes down to what you need out of each thing. I am a programmer and make YouTube videos so I am on a computer all effing day. MBP for when I need to go somewhere, Air for casual browsing on the plane or not really working, Mac desktop for daily driver, Windows PC for video editing and gaming, Linux desktop for programming, iPhone for my phone, Android phone for testing apps and staying up to date on current OS. It all comes down to what you need, no one solution is perfect for everyone. People get way to upset and want to be on one team or another as if its black or white. I like all good phones and all good computers, even if none of them are 100% perfect, I use a combination to get it done.

Actually, Intel HD Graphics 620 is not really better than Iris 540...they're close, with the slight edge favoring the Iris 540 because 128 MB of eDRAM memory on board it. (GT2 vs GT3e)

Anyhow even though the difference between Kaby Lake and Sky Lake is minimal, for apple to charge these prices is ridiculous.

No, the usb-c to lightning cable doesn't support data, only power. Was released only so the retina macbook 29w charger could be used to charge ipad pro quicker.
From Apple's website:

Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with Lightning connector to your MacBook with USB-C port or MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports for syncing and charging.

You can also use this cable with your Apple 29W, 61W, or 87W USB-C Power Adapter to charge your iOS device, and even take advantage of the fast-charging feature on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

This is not about what someone can afford!

This is about Apple's ongoing self serving comments to justify their inconsistent decisions that might happen to suit them at a particular time. We don't need yet another adapter. Last month we got the new Lighting to 3.5mm adapter, so now those folks who purchased Lighting headphones now need a USB-3 to Lighting adapter to use with the new MacBook. This is lunacy.

Apple lacks a consistent and well thought-out connection interface plan between their laptops, phones, tablets, and music devices. It's a mishmash of different and incompatible standards.

you don't think every pc manufacturer will switch to USB-C very soon? it's a standard that is extremely powerful. we will have this one year of overlap and then every plug will have it. Apple is doing the right thing, they're using the industry standard. they're using lightning in the phone because its thinner than usb-c.

HP released the Spectre a few months ago with only USB-C and Thunderbolt 3. At least all the ports on this are Thunderbolt 3 so you don't need to guess. And now it works with any USB-C charger, so you are no longer tied to Apple's proprietary cables. Also, if a company is going to buy a $1800 notebook chances are they will spring the $20 necessary for an adapter.

I was considering the Spectre, but the speakers are weak. Nothing like Apple's. Otherwise, it is a stunner.
