Boy do I love a good 5400RPM drive! And whoa, 1366x768 resolution! Mind-blowing!!
Bottom line: $599 is way, way, WAY too much for that piece of junk.
Apple is currently offering a 5400rpm drive in their 21.5" Imac for $1499. What's your point?

And that non-portable machine with that insane price tag comes with an outdated hardware. I mean, Geforce 965 for $3K premium device at the end of 2016? No way. We're talking about professionals' hands-ons with the new MBP and you're talking about a non-portable desktop drafting machine that starts at $3K—a machine most certainly targeted exclusively at illustrators and runs Windows. That's almost twice the price of the entry MBP with Touch Bar ($1,799). Incidentally, the iMac, Apple's desktop that isn't targeted at illustrators starts at $1,099 (1/3 the cost the MS machine). Remember the original Surface? A $10K table? I don't either.
Well you can get a USB C to lightning cable, but you're right. USB C to Lightning cables and wall adapters should be rolling out in iOS devices released in 2017.
So, don't buy Apple. I'm sure you can keep buying your computers with 8 inch floppy drives, 4 inch monochrome screen and 256K of memory. We wouldn't want you to be inconvenienced by technological advancements! Now go feed your horse before it gets too dark.
This is absolute crap!!!!
Apple removes the 3.5mm jack from the iPhone 7 forcing the use of wireless or the Lightning port connected headphones (or the use of some stupid Lighting to 3.5mm converter).
So now consumers drink the Apple Kook-Aid go out and purchase Lighting connected headphones and the arrogant Apple clowns release the new MacBook WITH a 3.5mm audio jack and NO Lighting connector.
When asked about removing the 3.5mm jack, Phil Schiller has been quoted saying “the company can't justify the continued use of an 'ancient' single-use port”, and it took “courage” to abandon the 3.5mm jack.
Greg Joswiak has been quoted saying “The audio connector is more than 100 years old. It had its last big innovation about 50 years ago. You know what that was? They made it smaller. It hasn’t been touched since then. It’s a dinosaur. It’s time to move on”
Isn’t this lovely, Apple just finished telling everyone that the 3.5mm jack is a horrible, outdated, dinosaur technology and we all should run out and purchase wireless or Lighting connected headphones.
Thanks for the inconsistency Apple. Are you now going to say it took “courage” to leave the 3.5mm jack in the MacBook but you omitted the Lighting port because that’s now obsolete?
It isn't a dongle. It's a USB-C to Lightning cable, just like the USB-A to Lightning Cable, but with a USB-C connector.Another dongle on the pile Apple expects us to lug around to do basic things.
The MacBook Pro has no port to charge your iPhone. Additionally there is no lightning port for you to listen to headphones that are compatible with an iPhone 7.
Therefore, if you own an iPhone or iPad, I suggest getting a 13" MacBook Air instead. You'll save a lot of money. If you are need pro-level power, I suggest a desktop.
I'm afraid that Apple don't offer a laptop or desktop that is compatible with lightning headphones, so if you own an iPhone 7 or 7+, you may need to think twice before buying a Mac, and conversely, if you own or want to buy an Apple laptop or desktop, bear in mind that you will not be able to use lightning headphones, which is what the iPhone 7 and 7+ supports, so you may need to think twice before buying an iPhone 7 or 7+.
I hope that's clear.
If only Apple had included a USB port and a lightning port on their new computers, then this problem wouldn't have arisen.
You can get a USB-C to Lightning cable for $19 and charge and sync whatever iOS device you want with it.
This is ridiculous, you're completely manipulating quotes. The Lightning connector has no business being on a laptop, it's slow and not functional there. Do you really want to start buying Lightning Headphones? Apple did not "make" a Lightning Connector for headphones, it eliminated the existing 3.5mm. To provide a free stop-gap for people who cannot afford or don't already own bluetooth they included headphones that could work in an existing port. They never once tried to sell Lightning-based headphones as the new thing.
Apple is not trying to turn Lightning into a port for headphones, its trying to eliminate cables.
A USB-A to Lightning cable is still a cable. I do wonder whether Apple will switch to a USB-C to Lightning cable as standard with the iPhone 8 (imagine all the complaints about how Apple is obsoleting all those old chargers).Oooh, another dongle*, I'm in dongle heaven again
(*dongle/cable whatever)

Is there a cable with female lightining connector? You can get a USB-C to Lightning cable for $19 and charge and sync whatever iOS device you want with it.
Man, you nailed it!These new MacBook pros are a classic example of form over function. A touchbar that requires you to look at it to be useful, diverting your eyes and hands from the useful work on the screen and keyboard/touchpad, implemented solely for the purpose of being cool rather than functional. A shallower, butterfly keyboard with poor key travel - an acceptable compromise for a much smaller/lighter device like the MacBook but a horrible sacrifice to the thin/light altar for a pro-level productivity notebook. The removal of genuinely useful features like the Magsafe power adapter, another sacrifice to an arbitrary aesthetic.
