MacBook Pro Launch February 12th?

Okay, so they've hired Linkin Park for the 'Event' next week. Now, how big a deal is the iPhone/Touch SDK? Who cares, what does it mean? To me it just seems stupid. Hiring Linkin Park can't be cheap(can't be that cheap, even though they're nothing big now), and what, for the iPhone/Touch SDK? I just can't imagine a big deal for such a small thing-THERE MUST BE MORE! They've got to do something with the notebook lineup. They've updated every small, stupid thing they can-well, maybe except for the Mac Mini. I'll keep saving up money, but if I arrive at the total sum I need for a MBP w/ printer and tax before this update, I won't be able to wait long.

So is it definite that there is an event? Even though there were no invitations sent out today (that i know of)?:confused:

we should make a thread called "New MacBook Pros" and post a message on all 5 or so threads to tell people to convert. It would be nice not to have to check 5 threads for updates.

Anyone in?
 
I couldn't take it anymore...

I have a 2.6 GHz SR Macbook Pro that's going to be here in 2-3 days.

And my view is, if it does come out, Apple will either change my order before it ships or I can just return it for the new one. And if the update isn't really all that fantastic (which it probably won't be) then I'll still be happy with my MBP. =)

it would be great to start a new tread and close all the others,
i think we are all getting tired of checking 5 different treads all the time.
 
Hey, I heard from a VERY creditable source that the macbook pros are going to be out in a week or two. The time is close, its real close. They are on their way! The inventory at stores are gone, ship dates are changing and everything. WAIT, hold up! sorry, thats what i heard 4 weeks ago, my fault! ;)

OK, thanks for the racist things you said.... I'm also from Mexico and the reason I don't do that (besides the fact that I have no idea where Rio Grande is, but definetely far from where I live) is that I have an american visa and the ability and money, of course, to go there any time I want (oohhh by plane, not by freaking swimming)... Sure there are a lot of people who go illegally to the US, but there also 110 million Mexicans who live in Mexico and stay here, and have normal, honest lives here...

Oh, plus, the prices in the Mexican Apple Store Online (yeah, we do have one of those, unlike most countries in the world) are the same than in the American one (except for the tax which is 15% in Mexico), but if you get a Student discount, you can get the products cheaper than in the US (without the discount).

Anyway, please people, stop being so racist!!!... Not all Mexicans are poor illegal immigrants... Some of us actually have a great life over here, and even though I could live in the USA if I wanted, I still prefer to live here. I don't envy the USA for anything... If you don't believe it, Cancun is in Mexico, just as Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, etc etc... Those places were built by Mexicans, are run by Mexicans and visited by Mexicans... I hope you guys ever have the opportunity to open your eyes and see that there's a whole world out there, just as great (or maybe even more) than your country...

that's a good sign, whenever Dell gets the new processors first, Mac gets them right RIGHT after. So it will definitely be next Tuesday were getting the updated MBPs. Not March 17th, not next next week, but next Tuesday. You heard it folks, I got the source but will not share it since my friend works INSIDE APPLE headquarters, it is definitely next Tuesday. He told me not to buy it, he also told me next Tuesday there will be NO RUMORED EVENT, but even though there isn't, it is releasing.

If I am not right about this, moderators can BAN my account for good. So if Tuesday it happens, you all owe me an apology, if it doesn't, you can BAN ME.

how come they say its tomorrow? Wasn't the rumor of the event next Tuesday the 26th?

If there is INDEED an event tomorrow, and MBPs don't come out, YOU CAN BAN ME. If they do come out, don't ban me LOL

Bah! Any monkey sitting at a keyboard can come up with a "speculated release date" (not saying your sources are wrong, just saying it's possible to do). I've given up on guessing which day it will be. I'm just waiting. If too long of a period of time goes by without an update, I'll take the plunge... Until then, I can't be bothered to get my hopes up whenever somebody says they have a "reliable source"... Again, don't take any offense to what I've said. I'm just fed up with all the release date guesses...

What the heck, thebeat? Weren't you calling Tailpipe over at the AppleInsider forums a total fraud for making similar claims? I also seem to remember you saying a couple of weeks ago that you had given up on waiting and had bought a current or refurbed MBP already. So now you're playing prophet? You are a complicated beast.

a hard one? Sounds like thebeat is just clutching at straws in desperation. A joke.

Mind you, it wouldn't take much to work out that the MBPs will get the speed bump next week that thousands crave though with no special design changes. There, I said it. I am the oracle.

I have money that I need to spend before the end of the financial year and I want to buy a MBP. I already have one 2.2Ghz, 2GB RAM etc but was looking at the new one (if indeed it ever comes out).

Is it worth waiting or just go and buy the 2.6Ghz, 4GB RAM etc now?

When you read these forums, you can see that NOBODY KNOWS but everybody hopes

When does the financial year end? you could just wait one week... and maybe another and another: we don't know
 
Well kids, time to pick up my toys and go home for dinner.
Yall have fun waiting for the updated MBP, cause yesterday I got one. No, no, not the updated versions, but a brand new killer MBP 2.4GHz with 2BG of RAM (yes, I'm ordering more).... as a gift from a very dear friend! While I'll be a tiny bit envious when you get the updates, I figures I just saved $3000, so its ok by me!
I'll check back in 3-4 years to see whats going on that Tuesday.
