OOooh - I hear the Shuffle got a price drop in the US at least.
I'm guessing there's another week wait, what with that rumored bigwig video company event being next Tuesday and all apparently...

Greetings from Germany!
I just registered here so I can speculate a little bit, too.

Here in Germany it is about 2 PM. Our Apple Store is still up, but thats normal ;)

Well, the american apple store is down. I hope we are gonna see new macbook pros today. i got my money ready ;)

but there could also be new cinema displays or a new mac mini.

I would cry. I'm not even kidding. Well the store is still down on my end, so let's just hope and pray.

well with this article: https://www.macrumors.com/2008/02/18/next-mobile-intel-processors-montevina-due-in-june-2008/

new montevina processors in june.....that makes the macbook pro speculation harder.

maybe they'll just do nothing yet and wait.
maybe they'll do a little spec bump now (no new design) and a complete overhaul in june (or when montevina is ready)
hopefully they'll do a complete overhaul now and a spec bump when montevina arrives.

well....the wait continues.

ohh...and "they" are apple of course ;)

Hmm, off the top of my head, if they wait till end of June that'll be 18 weeks time. Fortunately for the MBP waiters - Looking at the Buyer's Guide, there have been longer waits between updates in the past, but that was in 2005 with powerbooks. This has been the longest in the last 2 years.

So folks, if you had one update then another 89 month wait, would you rather a Penryn bump now, or Montevina style bump in 18 weeks? It's not like popping a new chip in is hard or anything.

...I don't really understand this whole Monteniva stuff....check this:

Centrino = Celeron of Pentium IV
Centrino = "Celeron" of Core 2 Duo
Monteniva = "Centrino 2"

Peryn = Newest (mobile) Core 2 Duo?

Apple wouldn't have used Celeron, and they will never use Centrino, therefore, they will never use Monteniva....

Why would they wait for Monteniva? Am I not right about this? Let me know.

Centrino is the name of the platform not the name of the cpu... your "="s are incorrect except peryn

OK. I'm losing the will to live here.
I think I'm going to to give it up, go cold turkey, and buy something else instead.

Stay strong! My Tibook is the same as yours and I too am holding out for the new and now fabled 17" MBP. I bought my Ti in July 2003 only to have them come out with a re-design in Oct. 2003. I didn't know any better than and as G.I. Joe says, "Knowing is half the battle...Yo Joe!" if your Tibook is still going strong like mine then hold out...wait...wait with me RHD...don't leave us!

well...actually...the website says:

"1 GB only $ 49"

so I think there will be a 2 GB model soon.....

i guess by now you guys all know that I was right
1 GB model $ 49 (45 € in Germany)
2 GB model $ 69 (65 € in Germany)

you can find the exchange rate here: http://www.ratesfx.com/rates/rate-converter.html

actually, $ 49 equal about 34 €, but as you can see, the ipod shuffle costs 45 € in Germany which is still not fair....
it doesnt matter for the ipod shuffle, but for the products which are more expensive, such as the laptops or the imac, apples price management still sucks

well apple is really rocking this year:

January the 8th: Mac Pro
January the 15th: Keynote (macbook air, iPod Touch software-update, time capsule, iTunes Movie Store for you guys in the US and so on)
January the 22nd: iPod nano in pink
January the 29th: Mac OS X 10.5.2

February the 5th: iPhone with 16 GB & iPod Touch with 32 GB
February the 12th: Aperture 2
February the 19th: shuffle price drop and 2 GB shuffle
February the 26th: iPhone SDK & the new macbook pros finally?

This may be the most disappointing "update" yet....who cares about the shuffle?? Not me!

At this point I am about ready to say screw the new technology and just go buy the current model. Only to be disappointed next week I'm sure, one way or the other.

1 GB model $ 49 (45 € in Germany)
2 GB model $ 69 (65 € in Germany)

US prices are tax free (to my knowledge) while european prices include VAT.
19 % in Germany ?
That turns $ 49 + german VAT = 39.83 EUR (still unfair, but better  )

Wow. I'm a newb.

I just always assumed heh. Didn't keep up with intel until lately really. Always been an AMD fan. Now waitin on MBP updates for my first Intel.
