Only a few more days left of "this week." Please post if you do have one that ships. Apples stock price went up- and I am sure it was due to the press release- who wants to bet it takes a small hit when everyone finds out that they are not shipping as stated. And no, I don't think shipping a few to stores counts in the stock market world...

Very Close

Just visited americanexpress.com. I happened to notice that the number for "available credit" has been reduced by $2600 and change.

That means Apple charged me in the past 24 hours.

I remember when I got my iMac G5, it got shipped from China and the order was listed as "not shipped" until the very day it was delivered.

We are so very close.

Haven't other people reported the same kind of thing happening on their cards over the last 3 days and yet nobody has yet received an email confirming shipment. Let's hope that the website is behind the shipping as you say.

Isn't Monday a public holiday in the US? As things stand if they decided to start shipping later today, (as China will be so may hours ahead of the US and Europe that it will be first thing Friday), this public holiday could hold up shipments to US addresses. Europeans may even start seeing them arrive before their American cousins.

I still think it is likely that we will see the 23rd and 28th shipping dates actually happen. Even though Apple said this week and next week, they don't seem to be moving at all. Fingers crossed I'm wrong on that one.

I ordered with a debit card, and it never gets charged until the order ships. And it def. hasn't been charged.

I'm calling up and asking for a manager and a mailing address tomorrow. I don't want a discount. I want to rip someone a new one. And for those who are telling me to chill. I have been chilling. The last 3 fricking years. Its easy to say just stay calm if you are sitting in front of a Mac. All I have is a makeshift remains of a desktop that is barely getting by. It gets the job done but how much longer am I going to have to live with this POS. 5 days, 12 days, 14 days, 30 days, 60 days? No one knows because we can't get a straight answer from anyone. If I had at least a real answer I could go out and buy myself a new motherboard and CPU for this thing and get it up and running at a decent clip if I knew it was going to be a month. Or hold off if it was only going to be til the 28th. I don’t need this crap.

You have never owned a mac before? I am very impressed! You say some of the most insightful comments here! You definitely deserve to have a golden "00XX" serial number printed on the bottom of the macbook. Good luck when you call apple.

Only if it will be your main machine and you don't have a powerbook now. If you do have a PB then the MBP will be faster even under Rosetta.. not by much, but it will be faster.

Regent Street

I just called Regent Street and still no signs of the MBPs... The operator told me that they expected them yesterday. Other thing he said (for what it's worth) is that they usually receive new products first thing in the morning. So the chances are that nothing will be in until tomorrow morning at the earliest.

The thinkpad is a well made machine: no doubt about that. But when you turn it on you see this

Well, not neccessarily :) When I turn on my Gateway, I see this, and the Thinkpad could join it :

Please tell us when someone receive a MB !

Hi all,

Could the first ones which receive their MacBook tell us informed ? I'm sure that this will be the case but this will be long before i receive mine (shipping date 28.02, delivered normally by 06/03, bought the Jan 10, 2006 at 02:11 PM GMT) and i would like to read reviews of it. I'm most interested in Java compilation times/execution (especially on multithread algorithms), but any article, post, review about it would satisfy me.
Thanks in advance,

PS: Sorry to be so geeky but i had never wait before on a new computer like this (hope it will help me gain like 1/2h a day [in compilation time for instance])

Don't worry.. the first ones to arrive will result in people gloating about performance..you'll get loads of information...

I'm gonna gloat if I am one fo the first

Credit Card Hit

Looks like Christmas may be here soon. My CC was hit for the exact amount of my MBPRO 2.0 and the shipping was hit two days ago. I would not doubt we get an email at the end of the day or tomorrow that they have shipped. Next week, week after I don't care but that is a good sign for sure.

My wife is looking forward to it shipping because she knows that should keep me quite for some time. Of course if I kiss the FedEx guy she look at me funny.

Have a nice one!

Apple has charged my card too. On 2/13 Apple charged the cost of my MacBook but the ship date is still 2/28. I ordered on Jan 10 at 10:54 am, just as the site went back up. Does that mean my computer is on its way to me ?
They don't charge for the machine until it ships, right ?
Still no e-mail from Apple about any of this. I can't wait !

Double Upgrade??

Has this happened to anyone else?

A friend of mine ordered the MBP 1.67, got upgraded to the 1.83 (without notification), and today received an email that the order was upgraded to 2.0!!!?

Speaking of Christmas!

It's cyclical... the system noted that he had a 1.67 and upgraded him to a 1.83. Next time round it noted that he had a 1.83 and upgraded him to a 2.0. rules are rules...

The email notification told her she was upgraded from 1.83 to 2.0 (even though she had ordered the 1.67) and gave her until 2-18 to make a decision to upgrade to 2.16, otherwise they would ship the 2.0.
I told her to not do anything, so that Apple would not realize their mistake. But the website still lists a shipping date sometime in March, so they have plenty of time to correct their mistake.

Has her card been debited... she might want to be careful as they might charge her for the top end model.

I don't know. But a copy of her initial order should convince them not to do that.
