LoL, right. Apple's R&D team gleans rumour forums for their ideas. You're talking about one of the most creative technology companies in the world. I don't believe these mockups are close at all. They look more like something created on the Island of Dr. Moreau than anything Apple produces.

Agreed and QFT.

NO mockup ever posted on MacRumors has ever come close to being the real thing.

NOTE: I said mockup. Not leaked photo ala the new and fat nano and the God awful aluminum chic-let keyboard.

The designers and photoshop-ers wish their design comes to fruition, and all the hype believers want these "cool" looking designs with flaws and black bezels for no reason but I can bet cold cash that any redesign to the MacBook/Pros won't be anything close to the horrific things we have seen on this site.

I have to agree that going with two mouse buttons will be a mistake. Two finger right click is so much more efficient. I also hope they keep the option of a matte screen. Granted, in many cases, reflection off a glossy isn't that bad, but why concern yourself with the problem to begin with?

I don't like a Ctrl-Click as the "right click", but a two finger click works fine. Better than a right click, really. I have missed Page Up/Page Down on my son's MacBook (I don't like Ctrl-arrow), but the multitouch scroll mostly solves that. Multitouch has a lot of potential. I'd love to see Apple make the most of it!

So, what is consider a "good" mock-up from your point of view? Can you make one yourself?

I'm interested in what "full multitouch" is.. how is differs from the current MacBook Pros.

To be honest, the multitouch in the Macbook Pros is a gimmick - Apple didn't add any more functionality, its OK, but not *that* useful in day to day usage.

MultiClutch is useful to extend MT to other apps, though.

I'm all for non-tapered edges. It makes better use of space, and the ports don't have to be recessed -- or worse yet, on a flying-saucer-stairs fold-out like the Air.

One thing that concerns me about the report: If the new one is even thinner, is there a risk that it might run even hotter than previous versions? I already have a big crack down the middle of my cedar coffee table from my current MBP's phenomenal heat build-up.

I also vote against tapered edges. But, then again, I voted against Bush (twice) and a lot of good that did me.

So, what is consider a "good" mock-up from your point of view? Can you make one yourself?

A good mockup is one that doesn't have any glaring flaws in industrial design, follows Apple's design scheme, and doesn't wreak of teenagers with too much time on their hands. This is not my POV, it's kind of a standard.

Don't insult me with that second question. You know what a good car is, but you can't build one yourself can you. Leave the logic fallacies for another forum.

This has nothing to do with the new books, I have already given my two cents but, how do you guys put the little blk apple next to your hardware?

apple employee...

macbook-pro-pic-thumb1.jpg

Did anyone else notice how the guy taking the picture put on an apple t-shirt and used an iPhone :D, seems like he's trying too hard to make it seem more realistic(fanboys...), that or he actually works for :apple: . . .

I don't think Apple employees have those T-shirts. There are black ones with a small Apple on it and all, but not these ones. Those are sold as merchandise only, I think.

Ok, let me clear up what is going to happen in October.
...
For Macworld:
...
I don't see a minor update at MWSF, but soon after is definitely possible. I think Apple will go all the way (redesigns, DDR3) next month with no update until midyear or so (hopefully even faster CPUs by then). I'm also skeptical about price drops but I'm not ruling them out.

You know what's funny is that I don't think that some of that will happen, and like so many people have said, it's purely speculation until we get a more solid source of information. The only things I have seen that we know almost certainly is that the MB will go aluminum and that we hope to see case redesigns on the MBP. That's really all that's been concluded with great certainty.
Absolutely.

16:10 provides more vertical real estate (without making the screen wider) for Logic, Photoshop & Final Cut which is what most PRO users buy this machine for. People who want to use their laptop as a DVD player can buy the MB or a PC.
Also, 1920·1200 in 16:9 is 1920·1080, a loss in pixels. The next higher resolution is 2560·1440 (or 2560·1600).

If Apple makes the Cinema Displays larger and 16:9 for 1600·900, 1920·1080, 2560·1440, there better be 3840·2160 or people will start to really complain…

At the right hand side when you are writing a message you will see a :apple: click it and a :apple: will appear in your text , where ever you wish a :apple: to be you will see a :apple: by simply clicking on the :apple: to the right of the box in which text is inserted .

hope this helps
:apple::D:apple:

Please lord....do me a favor and dont allow apple to ditch the concave keys, that are backlit, and smooth, and match the macbook case....pleaase!!!!!!!
If they switch it to the macbook keyboard, I will not even consider upgrading. I use my friends MB, and the keys are more clunky, not as smooth feeling, and I find I cant type as fast with them.

IMO, ppl are going to big the new MB/MBP when they are released even if they don't like them (specs, design, etc etc)...

Most people hated the Nano 4G pic when it was leaked but LOVED it when it was released...

wise words.

i didn't care much about the nano 4g. it just another ipod. but when i played with it it's really nice and looks quite good. i will buy one soon.

with the new MB/MBP's it's similar. apple won't design something outright stupid or bad. so even if i don't like it it still will be a good useful notebook running OS X. and i need a new notebook so i will buy it. it's highly unlikely that the new notebooks are so bad that i switch to windows.

my question for you all is, do u guys really think apple will rls new macbooks on 14th oct. There is no real prof that they will rls it.

Pls god pls give us a proper news. Before iphone came, we knew it will come out and same with ipods. But this macbook we have not even heard a single news its coming....

Its only on macrumors all are saying new macbooks new macbooks.

What do u have to say to this?? i do really hope this rumor becomes truth, but its difficult to belive it........:rolleyes:iluv:apple:

I am sorry. I actually did not view it as "insulting".

No, I apologize. I bash mockups a lot, and it's usually followed by someone telling me to make one myself.

Not that I degrade the skills of the artist, just the intentions of their work.

None of the ones I have seen related to the new macbooks are any good or are in following with Apple's design scheme. If Apple does put a glass pane over the screen of the MacBooks, I hope it's a strong one that doesn't turn the matte screens to glossy.

If they don't put glass over the screens, then the black bezels aren't necessary if only for cosmetic reasons. In other words, mockup artists are designing based on perceived fads.

p.s. People get worked up about it because the "fad" mockups lead "not-so-bright" posters into believing the next book will look as such. When it doesn't, we have to deal with their incessant ranting and whining after a product release. Much like the last notebook update where these mockups first appeared.

I'm fairly certain Steve and his cronies do come on here from time to time , in various guises ...just to mess with heads and of course keep the 'ol marketing wagon rolling ;)

Eh. I think we keep that wagon rolling pretty well on our own. There surely is a crony whose job it is to keep an eye on rumor sites to look out for NDA violations and images they want removed. However, I seriously doubt that SJ has the time or inclination to post incognito.

Stranger things have happened ;)

There is only one "good" and plausible one for me right now:
