So if apple does go with the black keys on aluminum, how do I go about replacing them with aluminum colored keys? Any companies that sell different colored keys for MB/MBP?

Please post links if you have them

Black keyboards on a silver notebook? Eww... this will never happen

I actually really dislike the silver keyboard on the current MBP's. There is a certain luminosity range when the keyboard is being backlit in which you cannot see the letters or numbers on the keyboard.

A black keyboard would be an ENORMOUS improvement, IMO

A black keyboard matches great to a black border around the screen, like the iMac or iPhone has. I would love it.

dvi port in your picture

There is only one "good" and plausible one for me right now:

except this picture has a dvi port instead of the mini-dvi

looks like a Macbook Air siting on top of a white MacBook :D

Cinch

There is only one "good" and plausible one for me right now:

That is the most reasonable one I have seen so far. It's not this ultra thin book with a 17" screen and crooked trackpad.

For me personally, all i want is a magnetic latch and user replaceable HDD. The easy RAM upgrade system from the iMac/Macbook would be nice, but not needed.

Then would be the hardware. Give me TWO hdds in the 17" at least, and a dedicated GPU CTO option on the MacBook and we are talking. Everything else in my opinion is cute somewhat useful stuff.

my question for you all is, do u guys really think apple will rls new macbooks on 14th oct. There is no real prof that they will rls it.

Well, here in Denmark, retailers are suddenly giving a 200 dollars discount on macbook... I guess they think something is up.

i could live with black keys but i like my idea of glass keys w/ letters etched or painted on but if there is a blk boarder then keep the keys blk.

MacBook very tangible specs guess! an pragmatic approach!

As far as we know apple has used a lot of hardware in its notebooks which was also used in pc notebooks. So my guess would be that the specs of the upcoming Macbook will be very comparable to the latest up-to-date notebooks from Asus, on of the largest hardware-producers, which also has factories in Shenzen/China?!

Let's take the brand new Asus N50 series, globally released 17/9/08.
There are two versions of it and the smaller one costs around 1000€, and that's a good price tag because same hardware in an MB would cost us, let's say maybe around 1200-1300€.

the N50 series specs are:

CPU: 2.4 or 2.5 Core 2 Duo
RAM: 2,4 max. 8GB DDR2 800 (official asus spec sheet says max 4GB, but a friend bought one and it eats 8GB)
HD: 320GB SATA
Graphics: 512MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 9300M GS or NVIDIA® GeForce™ 9650M GT mit 1.024 MB VRAM/

Display: 15,4" TFT (WXGA, LED Backlight, Automatic Lightdimming-Sensor)
Optical: 8 x DVD Super Multi D/L Double Layer
Interfaces: beneath other Gigabit LAN, HDMI, Bluetooth, Firewire 800, N-Standard Wifi
Camera: 2 Megapixel

I bet a horse that the specs of the new MBs are somewhat compareable to this. The may modify the display, exchange the GPU for cheaper Intel chips and give the lowend MB the 2.4Ghz and the highend the 2.5 GHZ CPU..

They simply cannot build in hardware, which did not exist until the beginning of Oct because they need to start producing and it must be current PC mid-range hardware otherwise the MBS will probably start shipping for 2k?!?! ;)

Based on this specs, my guess for the MBP would be almost the same, entry RAM is 4GB, larger HDs and to differentiate from the MBs definitely with the NVIDIA GPUs. As Maximum CPU there will be the highest available Intel Mobile CPU today, the 2,8 GHz Core 2 Duo.

IMHO this hardware-upgrade from the current MBs would be enough for Stevie to go nuts at 14 Oct. again in the oldschool way... "AMAZING bright LED Displays, FW800, 2,5 GHZ , boomblabla..."

a horse for being wrong ;)

Can't wait to see the redesigns of the Macbook Pro. My old Powerbook G4 is beginning to get a bit ropey (Still better than any Vista laptop i've used though). Holding off buying one for a redesig, it better be good! I'd quite like to see an iMac inspired black surround

I did not say contrast in the previous post. ;)

So when the MacBook Pro gets an MacBook Air black keyboard, what keyboard do you ladies and gentlemen see coming to the MacBook?

I hope the same one. A backlit keyboard would be nice as well, since I can't really see my keyboard when I'm in a lecture at the university.

what about SSHD no one has mentioned it. IT's suppossed to be a whole lot faster and stable just not as many GB per $.

There is only one "good" and plausible one for me right now:

You know what scares me the most?

Is if the image is true and they go to the black again, similar to how the G3 laptop used to be (was it the powerbook G3?, can't recall, but see them from time to time), is that this time, they will be the same keyboard across the board.

Same keyboard for all machines. The reason that bothers me....

Is, Apple is a company that is doing pretty well, considering the market place, stock crash, main street, vs. wall street, yet, what they are really doing is saving money, saving money by releasing one keyboard for all machines, no more seperate dye's casts for different machines, macbook white, black, macbook pro, all will have the same. Which leads me to believe the rumor about no more pro per se', but just macbook and higher end macbook (pro).

If Apple is going to cut costs and make more money, then they need to put in a dedicated GPU in all machines.

FIRST MACBOOK= NO GAMES
LAST MACBOOK=NO GAMES

We all know, MACBOOK = NO GAMING due to OPEN_GL, however....

FIRST MACBOOK =70% OPEN_GL Test
Second to LAST MACBOOK = 171% OPEN_GL test and PRO's were running motion on it with ease, so, what does Apple do? They cripple it and release the X300 bringing OPEN_GL way down to 70% again.

I ask why? Why? Since we could never play games on it, they only affecting the PRO USER base which is less than 1% these days as this did not affect So if you combine Apple cutting costs (same keyboard) to Apple also changing the FIREWIRE CHIPSET in the macbook and imac documented here:
http://www.gearspace.com/board/musi...ets-can-troublesome-okt-07-till-feb-08-a.html
and add that the iMac used to come in Matte but are now much to powerful that in some ways they compete with the pro line (they made them glossy only, which really translates to consumer or audio use, but with cheaper firewire), you have a company that really is doing well, but going way beyond what need to be doing to KEEP THE PRO USER, the smallest of the bunch, TIED TO MAC PRO lines and now it looks like they will cut costs again with going all one design for the keyboard, if so, I will keep my 6 month old macbook pro as I love the keyboard, although I must admit, I have an alminum keyboard that I use with it :D

If thought, Apple finally realizes that if they release a good GPU on all models and stops worrying about the pro market (<1%) and releases GPU on Macbook, mini, not only will college students by macs for gaming, you will have pro's buying top of the line mac pro's, macbook pro's and extra smaller mini's and macbooks for secondary use. They would make MORE money, not less, if they released dedicated GPU across the board as gaming is HUGE and college students would snap up MACBOOKS and run windows if need be, for gaming and pro's would get them as back ups.

I know this won't be popular, but what happened to all the speculation about that conference call where they said they (APPLE), were going to do something that would cause a profit loss (PRICE CUTS?), is that coming with newer MACBOOKS?

My conclusion, Apple should release all Macbooks, pro, mini's with dedicated GPU (we're talking about a $3.00 part here), reduce prices across the board (they should be able to, especially if using the same keyboard for all machines will save them a lot of money), and since now all mini's and macbooks can play games, differentiate the macbook from pro by offering 4-8 cores (they have 8 cores out, just to much draw (power) right now and make the macbook pro a 4 core and someday 8 core machine with the mac pro coming in with two 8 cores (16 total) and then the 16 cores (1~2 years from now)....

They would make a bundle and they need to get over this fear of the PRO USER using the lower end machines. So what, they will always buy the higher end too, they would not stop buying higher end simply becuase the lower end would do the job. I know some that have MAC PRO and MACBOOK PRO, and then a windows machine or laptop with more power, they (Apple) really need to get over themselves and realize the PRO user no longer drives the market, gaming is a huge community (more than feature films make), and go after the gamer, and graphic designer who could use either a mac pro to mini, I'm telling you, with years experience in marketing, promotions, Apple will make money, not lose it by doing this, even with price cuts, they would grow to 20%, if not more, in less than 1 ~1.5 years with a dedicated GPU and focus on more cores as you move up the Apple chain.

I also believe they will dump the "pro" word someday and just differenciate due to the more cores. e.g. Macbook 2, (2 cores), Macbook 4, Macbook 8, and Mac 16 (tower).

well im also from denmark, jeg er også fra danmark.
