Have you seen iJustine's video on the new MBPs? If not then don't discount her technical expertise until you've witnessed it. In the first seven minutes she leaves every other review I've seen to irrelevance.
I admire how she’s gotten to where she’s been over the years with her work ethic, and yes she does edit her own videos which is great.

However, her content has gotten cringier through time. I can’t even stand her for more then 3 minutes. That exaggerated fangirl schtick has been overdone for too long.

She has 7m followers and 400k views on her review so far today so I doubt she'd need my endorsement. But, what it proves is that she is more relevant than any of us to the wider Mac community.
Interesting metric. By that regard I’d also trust LTT and MKBHD more (and I do) because they both have double sub counts than iJustine.
To each of their own I guess.

The content and formula haven’t really changed. Perhaps it just seems cringier to you coming from A 37-year old vs. a 24-year old when she started doing this. “iJustine” is a character and even she acknowledges as much during many of the videos. She doesn’t pretend to be objective, but her videos can be informative. It’s interesting seeing her edit 8K content on the base 14” model. It demonstrates tangibly how even that model is overkill for most people.

The point is that she’s influential.

It should also be demonstrated by other people too, with or without “real life scenarios”. Heck, the price alone is enough.

I mean, either way, we see how he judges reviews. The rest is irrelevant. Other folks would still go with Geekbench and such to get a more “synthetic” and repeatable test results that can be cross referenced.
Synthetic benchmarks and repeatable test results also have their limitations. Look at the (when I last checked) 16-page thread about the leaked Alder Lake chip Geekbench 5 results that exceed the M1 Max. You have ”fanboys” on both sides using the results to support their own preconceived notions. Pro-Intel and/or anti-Apple people are using it as “proof” that Intel has “beaten” Apple while pro-Apple and/or anti-Apple people are pointing to performance-per-watt, or talking up some future M2 Max, or bringing up “real world performance.” Had the M1 Max edged the Alder Lake, we’d have seen the “let’s wait for real world performance” from the other side.

Except that I usually don’t see that in more “serious” reviews. Max Tech does a lot of direct comparisons, though he also isn’t typically regarded as a “serious” reviewer.

Even ”serious” reviewers overemphasize seemingly mundane “features” like the return of the HDMI port. I don’t know why “pros” found it much of a hassle to need to carry an adapter. These days many of us aren’t giving as many in-person presentations, but even when we did / go back to doing so, our clients may have anything from wireless (rare), HDMI, DisplayPort, or even VGA (more common than it should be in 2021). I was used to traveling with a few display adapters in my bag. Thunderbolt supported all of them with adapters. And after 5 years of using USB-C-equipped notebooks, most of us have found a portable port replicator. I have one that has Ethernet, USB-A, HDMI, and an SD-card slot, and that’s smaller than an iPhone 13 mini.

My point is she is not influential enough, and there are other more influential figures out there.
She’s influential enough that Apple sent her 2 MacBook Pro review units (base model 14” and maxed out 16”), and granted her a 15 minute interview with Tim Cook. She also got the AirPods 3, the iPhone 13 Pro, and the iPad mini (in all 4 colors) to review.

To the extent that Apple's stock price could crater if she gave a negative review so it's in Apple's best interests to keep her on Tim Cook's speed dial.
NO,

She's even more than that. Rumor has it, Apple's stock price is directly "influenced" by her menstrual cycles.

You don't want to imagine when she doesn't get avocado toast and Starbucks.
Apple would file for bankruptcy the same day.

Yeah, the SEC would be investigating her brokerage account for short sale activity if she ever gave a negative review. ;)

There’s a setting for that. ?

Full menu bar is below the notch, and the notch areas are blacked out. Usable screen space goes back to exactly how your old 16:10 Macs have been. A black forehead will be there. Everybody wins.
Ok that’s promising. I’ll see to it myself. Notch is still a notch after all.

Mini DP, mini VGA, etc were all annoying. The 2012 rMBP was the first time Apple had a regular video port on their Macs, HDMI.
True. Very true. However, now I don't think it necessary, actually for quite some time, to have a port dedicated to what is effectively a legacy video port...I don't think I have had an issue with display out in any meeting room for 5, perhaps 7 years.

Will it stop us from transitioning at the appropriate time to the new MBP's? Likely not. Monterey would likely stop us before HDMI will.
