Note to self: Best Buy = Worst Clue

Actually, having products appear in the Best Buy inventory tells us that Best Buy management is expecting a new product, not that they know WHAT and WHEN with certainty.

Wish BGR was right though...particularly about the SSD boot drive...that would be an excellent feature
On Monday of this week, BGR reported that the new MacBook Pros would offer larger trackpads, a small SSD boot drive for system files, and reduced weight compared to the previous generation. None of the claims came true.

what about mac rumors actual intelligence in this? I guess you can't be a winner or loser if you don't actually have any leads and information to present...

Btw, cheap shot at the Danish guy who's prediction was within the week, at least he predicted something...

The sky is blue.

Oh, sorry, that was a cheap shot.

Excuse my french but Macgeneration are hopeless, they should stick on frog legs...

Nice one Macrumors :)

I wasn't really impressed by the accuracy of most of the rumors with the exception of the solid and confident Thursday release prediction, followed by the Thunderbolt info.

Trackpad is a little larger though.

I wonder if all those different versions would let Apple play "find the mole" easily. ;)

I think the SSD rumor discrepancies parse to two generations. So when Lion is released (forced) on consumers in about 3-12, it will have a PB w/ SSD, HD, no ODD, and have LTE. I hope one of the options is DOUBLE BATTERY.

Rocketman

Double battery where? The optical drive bay probably doesn't offer 100% of battery space.

Would not be surprised at all if some of the inaccurate rumours were deliberately put out by Apple either to determine the source of leaks or to cast confusion and doubt in advance of the real announcements.

the bad thing is they don't put apple stickers in the box anymore

and what is that black hinge thing below the screen , was it there in the 2010 version ?

I move we give awards to the worst rumors. We could call them the Tallest Skils. :D

+1

When the grainy picture of the Thunderbolt logo was first published, and people were calling the name dorky and worse, I predicted in a forum it would be commonly abbreviated as TB by the first confirmed story as many were not going to bother with 11 keystrokes when two would do. Especially in the age of tweets and TXT's.

I was promptly taken to task by someone who pointed out (as I well knew) that TB already belonged to a nasty disease (however tech world's already appropriated TB for terabyte and many acronyms do double or triple duty in different spheres).

My little win!! Maybe time for me to start a Mac blog.....

;)

Losers:

...BGR...

I will point out (as I have before) that BGRs "contacts" at Apple are always wrong. 100% track record of fail. I figured you would have given up on the customer service "memo" (text typed in by BGR staff on the BGR web site).

You can't really say the screenshot was inaccurate yet. Just because the screenshot said March 11 - that should not have been construed as the launch date - more so the release date at Best Buy.

March 11 is also a Friday which is one of the days that Best Buy receives shipments.

I sure hope I'm right because my BB credit card is burning a hole in my pocket!

I'm waiting for Best Buy to get them too - I've got several gift cards I've been saving up. The local store told me today that they'd be getting them, but they don't know when.

One idea for future rumors: why don't you post a small statistic about the sources how often they were right and wrong - maybe setup a 'history tracker' page for the sources with all the past 'leaks' and which turned out to be true and wrong. This would be great for estimated the reliability or just browse for fun through the history ....

Thunderbolt and the Cinema Display

Given the introduction of thunderbolt yesterday, would now be a foolish time to purchase a 27" Cinema Display? I realize the display that is currently available can be at the end of a Thunderbolt daisy chain, but what are the chances that apple would update the display in the near future to more fully incorporate the Thunderbolt technology? Any thoughts?
