Does anyone’s UPS tracking say this? I didn’t ask them to drop it off to a UPS Access Point… I have no idea where the package is going.

Not for… ever?

we shall see.. I will wait until the next macbook pro update or two years.. if nothing develops, I will buy a nice gaming notebook and slide my M1 Air into the bag next to it. I feel the technolust rising in me for the new machines, but they add nothing to my workflow.. I don't really need to do mac stuff faster but I do need to play games. :D

Wow some people here are so out of touch. The plane may have had technical problems and it needs to get fixed. And people are like I don’t care if the pilots die in an unsafe machine give me my MacBook now!

I remember my train was cancelled due to a suicide, someone jumped onto the tracks and got hit, and some selfish hipsters at the train station were yelling at the poor railway staf trying to help. Like I don’t care for the reason and I don’t want to use the next train in one hour I want you to put a replacement train on the tracks right now! It’s a sad Me Me Me society we live in.
Who invited Debby Downer to the chat ?

Still no updates since that mechanical problem ?

I will say this is a society if instant gratification. Does it suck, sure, is it the end of the world, no. People really need to express their frustrations over twitter because of a delay in a shipment? Call out a company over a delay in shipping? Is everyone living on the same world I am? Where nothing these days is guaranteed from a consumer standpoint. We are dealing with far more pressing things than delayed MBP’s.

1. I had a similar experience with my iPhone 13 order.
2. I was told by our mail carrier that USPS are only scanning packages at entry and delivery due to staffing shortages
3. I have a friend who owns, and runs, a small business who says that shipping has been a real problem since the pandemic. In fact she has stopped shipping overseas.
4. Package deliveries I'm getting from Amazon are no longer being delivered in the insanely quick way they used to be.
5. 2 of the last 5 flights I've been on in the last month were delayed for maintenance.

I'll go out on a limb and say that staffing, supply, and pandemic related issues are largely to blame. Hopefully it will all get back to normal soon. Though given how many cargo ships are waiting to be unloaded, I really doubt it.

I have both an Apple Watch, and a MacBook Pro on order. I'm going to try and relish the anticipation.

So for those in Europe - the UPS plane is on flight number 5X11, and goes Shanghai-Seoul-Cologne. Today it has made it from Shanghai to Seoul. The plane which should have done the Seoul-Cologne segment yesterday is the one widely reported as having a tail strike (N572UP) - it looks like it went from Dubai via Shanghai.

My package today has been listed as leaving Shanghai at about the time 5X11 left, so I'm not entirely sure why it wasn't listed as leaving Shanghai yesterday then listed as a mechanical issue in Korea. But the flight tracking suggests that for people in Europe, the Seoul and Shangai "mechanical issues" are the same tailstrike incident.

That explains why my shipment has been sitting in Shanghai for 2.5 days with it only saying “We are updating plans for your delivery” and other weird and vague tracking status notes such as “the package will be sent to your destination city.”
Surprised by UPS’s lack of contingency plans
This is the message I get for my series 7 Apple Watch.

UPS, pronounced "oops" these days, used to be the model for effecient shipping. But in the last few years they have turned into one of the worst shippers. They are well known for delivering to the wrong address, banging up the packages, purposely throwing packages down on porches, and even throwing packages over fence into someone's yard.
For me personally that was actually the problem with the last FedEx driver we had on our route for a couple of years. The new guy is very nice. UPS, once it comes down to my local route, has been good. Except during Christmas, then everything goes to hell.

When FedEx leaves a note on your door for three days in a row without knocking, while you’re at home waiting for your delivery, and then you find a thousand other people online saying the exact same thing, that tends to color your perception of a company

It’s not that ups is good, but at least they deliver my packages
I always freak out when FedEx says my package is delivered a day or two before I actually get it. Did the driver lie to meet his quota? Was it misdelivered? Was it stolen?

For the impatient like me, I did a bit of digging. There is a flight to PVG (Shanghai) which originated from NRT that’s landing in the next 20 minutes.

I’m hoping that it gets our packages put on board and fly out so at least they make it out of China and start moving.

The flight landing is 5X108 and the plane is tail N339UP, it doesn’t have a filed flight plan beyond this flight so it’ll be interesting to know where it’s headed off to when it leaves PVG.

My delivery is now scheduled for tomorrow and it looks like the plane is flying again -> https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/5x11

I'm wondering if the pilots know that people are desperately waiting for things they are transporting ? I would love to send them "cheers", like with the runtastic app.

Thanks for getting the information! As someone whose order is also stuck in Shanghai, this is really helpful! Hopefully we’ll see some movement in the next day.

Mine is in Korea now and scheduled to arrive tomorrow.
As UPS uses local time it is even in the future ...

Hey guys... in case you wonder, this is what they mean by "a mechanical failure" that just happened at Incheon International Airport today. I'm guessing the shipments were supposed to be on this plane before this incident.
According to this article, this plane suffered a landing gear failure during take-off and returned to the airport for maintenance.

With a forum like this, the internet today and guys like you it really becomes difficult for the transport companies to screw their customers :)

FYI if you are happy with 16 or 32 GB and 512GB or 1 TB SSD 16 inch models (which I usually get the 1TB and my 2 year old one is still pretty good so not in market) here at our local Best Buy there are plenty of the stock 14 and 16’s available today. There are 6 of the 16 inches there right now. Champaign Illinois and I bet there are other Best Buy’s having them available right now. Now if you want more specialized orders then stuck with apple and build in China for now of course. I had toyed with one with 32 GB and 2 TB but there are only two with 1TB and 32 GB ram. But some nic models if I were in the market today ;-)
That is great info, thanks! I might do that...

Southwest airlines pilots and staff showed the way, say no and the BS is over.

Companies are unfortunately owned by these special interests or otherwise they would all just ignore totally illegal "mandates" which break every law under the sun and are highly unconstitutional, against both common sense and nuremberg code, clearly only created to benefit same special interests, to the severe detriment and damage to normal people.

I am not sure how they're screwing up the supply chain - I don't think these mandates are the only reason, but they're clearly destroying global commerce at the moment and that has nothing to do with a new flu. Your new MacBook is the least of your problems if this continues.

Will be interesting to see how Tim Cook reacts to this, he is the master of supply chain, it must irk him that his perfect clockwork symphony of just in time shipping system is currently under attack. Apple is sitting on a stockpile of cash to fix such issues.
Good lord…

Mine is still stuck in PVG. Since Sunday.
Note that my scan was earlier than the ones above - 1:15am - so there could 1) be damage to some units, 2) prioritization of some devices, or 3) just enough space to get stuff out on new flights.

I wish this was true. They screw, we complain. Some on video, other via vague tracking apps.
