Are you squinting trying to see your iPhone 4? Higher density doesn't have to mean smaller objects on screen.
iOS supports two screen scales. MacOS X does not.

You have to sacrifice something beyond that hole in your wallet. It usually revolves around the processor, GPU, or display. Yes, Apple does use TN panels for their notebooks. 1366 x 768 is a plague as well.Eidorian is still here. Haha. And still true to form.
It will be interesting to see how this is addressed. I would not expect it until the next version of OS X or possibly in Windows 8. I would like to get more details on what Lenovo does for their solution currently under Windows 7.Anyway, there will not be a smallish SSD onboard unless we see 10.6.7 released on thursday as well that addresses the following:
10.6.6 and pretty much every version before it DOES NOT easily allow the home directory library et al to be moved off the internal system drive. It's always been about 1 and only 1 drive that can be called the system drive. Applications such as Adobe's Creative Suite, Maybe even office and a slew of others require that they be installed to the system drive.
YES
you can trick the OS using symbolic links and a whole slew of other stuff, but the average joe will not A) want to -or- B) know how to set up such a solution. A what if the secondary disk fails? The system won't boot!
iTunes and iLife applications still store files in the home directory. Is this going to be moved off of the "system" drive by default? How so? How will we control this? What about those of us with older systems that don't have an onboard SSD.
Again, if Apple addresses the current inadequacies for a seamless dual drive setup then I can believe such a rumor. Until then...no.
what i dont get..is why people say oh buy an external cd drive...well why do thatl....when it can be built in to the physical laptop!
I dont have an external tho! Oh well, ive only had it for a week im sure i can get everything back on this one...
Because it makes the physical laptop thicker and heavier even when you are not using the cd at all!

Why do we have external power supplies and not ones that are built into the physical laptop?what i dont get..is why people say oh buy an external cd drive...well why do thatl....when it can be built in to the physical laptop!
How are you going to charge a MBP if it does not have power supply built in? Judging by how often people carry around their power supplies or external disks, one would guess that having the option to replace the optical drive with a power supply or a second storage volume would be popular with these people.
Windows can manage Resolution independence as well. But not Mac OS
What stats are you talking about? Just because people are buying a computer with an optical drive (~99% of PCs - meaning, not iOS devices, etc.), does not mean that 100% of those people are actually using them (the optical drives, or whatever other componenets for that matter).
I'll say it again, they DO have their function/purpose/whatever. I also would prefer to have one. I'm just saying if the new models are lacking it, that it would NOT be the dumbest idea ever... to have something equally or more useful in it's place, like more storage, or battery life, etc.
i dont get it! If you dont want the odd then just get a macbook air right?
I dont get it! if you dont want the ODD then just get a macbook air right?
Wake me up when Apple gets on board with the future and integrates Blu-Ray.
An HD screen with crappy worthless streaming media. Sweet!!!

If you need additional storage once per week and an optical drive once per month, which one would you prefer to be build in and which to be external?

Likewise. The GPU in the new Macbooks will be the "make or break" point for me.
Blueray is worthless. It's sad how many people are brainwashed into thinking they need it.
Dell, face it - the ODD is history.![]()
