Hey
Are there always as many news / threads / rumors when it comes to Apple product renewals or is it just this time because I'm looking or them, being in line to replace my Early 08 MbP ?

Also, a 2.3Ghz i5 w/3MB cache doesn't exist. There's only one with 6MB on the Intel site. I think.

Actually, Intel makes an i5-2410M chip available only to OEMs which clocks at 2.3GHz base with a Max Single Core Turbo at 2.9GHz and a Max Dual Core Turbo at 2.6GHz. This has 3MB L3 cache. Graphically, it has 12EUs with a base gfx frequency at 650 MHz and a max gfx frequency at 1200MHz. It has Hyper-Threading and has a TDP of 35W. You can find more information on all of the mobile Sandy Bridge CPUs at anandtech.com.

Well that pisses all over

MacGeneration (French) claims that a trusted source has leaked the specs of the new MacBook Pros. As summary of the new specs are provided:
- no more white MacBook (Apple goes back to two lines of 13" inchers)
- 16 GB SSD mSATA drives on all models to store the system
- Core i3 and third USB port on the 13" model
- Matte screen option on the higher-end 13"
- Option to replace the SuperDrive with a SSD on the 15 and 17" models
- HD screens on all models : 1440x900 on the 13", 1680x1050 on the 15"
- 200 to 300 grams lighter : 1.8 kg for the 13", 2.3 kg for the 15", 2.65 kg for the 17"
- Better battery life : 12 hours on the 13", 10 hours on the 15"
- 8 GB of RAM on the 17"

Bold are debunked by the specs.

Seems like Rumors are like bumholes. Everyone has them, and we all know what they're full of ;) :D

Not Bad

This is not bad if it is the low end model meant to replace the white MacBook, @ $999 this sound pretty good.

I'm looking forward to the specs on the higher end 13" model though with the 1400x900 display, and the mSATA SSD.

My guess is an extra $300-$400 will get you a better display, an extra SSD, a better HD and a faster processor.

Plenty of people, myself included, have pointed this out.

Anyone remember what the new SKU's on the bestbuy site were for. They even had the prices. If I remember correctly the Prices started at 1199 going up to something like 2499.

If that is correct than this would be the low end mbp 13" and not a standard mb. Unless Apple decided to raise the price of a standard macbook to 1199 and have the MBP line start at 1399. Ouch that would be rough.

Wow

What a freaking disappointment. No SSD and resolution upgrade, i might as well save my money and keep my current 13" pro.

But, too late, i sold my pro on eBay already..... ****** you Apple.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

MacBooks are Silver. MacBook Pro are Black. :]. We haven't seen those leaks because the world isn't ready for them yet... And theres going to be a discrete graphics card in the 13" Pro...

Will these 13" MBP (specifically Intel graphics card) be able to run Starcraft 2?

Yes, starcraft 2 is supposed to be "optimized" for the sandy bridge graphics. I suppose it will run on medium settings or something like that.

Heres an easier picture to compare the slimmer design. Looks a lot more MacBook Air like.

THAT looks real. Finally, we see a picture that does not look like a hoax! At the end of it, the clear plastic was torn off. I'm believing everything now. Thanks for the pic!

The posts like this are hilarious. Might be best to wait until the official announcement tomorrow before you have your aneurysm?

I know integrated graphics isn't the best, but on low settings, the i5, 4GB of ram, have got to allow the game to run pretty smooth right? I have an iMac with less RAM and slower CPU (but with graphics card) that can run Steam games EASILY.

Any spec-whores wanna chime in?

anybody else notice the weight of the old and alleged new mbp 13" are exactly the same?

4.5 pounds (2.04 kg)

thats great to know! I don't even mind low graphics settings, it's just gotta run smoothly...

The graphics are less then stellar - here's to hoping for better graphics in the 15 inch or at least a better graphics option.

Slimmer? Really? Is it wearing thinning stripes? :D

It's no MBA size-zero supermodel, just a normal size-10 woman in week two of a diet.

Slimmer is a quite ordinary word meaning 'thinner' - which the new MPBs are (or at least appear to be). Slimmer does not exclusively refer to human body size (nor does thinner).

Sandy Bridge is SUPPOSED to have USB 3.0 built-in natively.

Has any argument in human history ever been won by increasing font size? Especially with the lack of any kind reference or supporting information?
